About the Item

Gilbert Rohde for Troy Sunshade Chrome and Leather 3 Position Lounge Chair. Rohde did some of his most amazing designs for Troy Sunshade. Designed in 1934 this early example, later models had more joints and screws that were attached. This early one has many welded joints, turned out they could make easier and cheaper by screwing parts together. Chair still retains its decal label to backside of chair. Chair has a flat bar in back that allows you to set in 3 positions, basically a modern rendition of a wood Morris Chair. Rohde took many design ques from French Deco, International Style and made his designs distinctly American and his own! This set has been reupholstered in a blue leather, chrome is all original and shows only a few areas of plating loss. Overall a great example of this classic!
