About the Item

Iconic Series 7 swivel desk chair, designed in 1952 by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen, this example dates 2000. The chair is clear waxed bent plywood, on a bright chrome base, with black plastic wheel coaster feet. In addition to being a swivel chair, the chair is adjustable in height as follows: 24"W x 20.5"D x (30.7"H at lowest adjustment) to 35.4"H at highest adjustment with a (17.3"H at lowest adjustment) to 22"H seat at highest adjustment The original label remains under the chair. The Series 7 by Arne Jacobsen is the flagship of Fritz Hansen's collection. The Series 7 swivel task chair features a height-adjustable swivel base on 5 casters. The lamination process coupled with the qualities inherent in the wood make the Series 7 flexible enough to adjust to the body's contours and movements. Arne Jacobsen was very productive both as an architect and as a designer. His cooperation with Fritz Hansen dates back to 1934. The Ant and Series 7 chairs, produced in 1952, propelled both Jacobsen and Fritz Hansen's names into furniture history. At the end of the 50's Arne Jacobsen designed the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, which introduced the Egg, the Swan, the Swan sofa and Series 3300 to the design world. Arne Jacobsen was and is an admired and outstanding designer. His furniture and other design work have become a national and international heritage.
