About the Item

The Secrétaire 804 is one of the most representative designs of Gianfranco Frattini's creativity and the manufacturing excellence of Bernini, a historic Italian haute cabinet-making company. Designed in 1962, this piece of furniture best expresses Frattini's refined design skills and the craftsmanship of Bernini cabinetmakers. A transforming object par excellence, 804 conceals within it a surprising functionality: through a simultaneous movement that combines the pulling out of the top and the sliding of the shutter, the piece of furniture transforms from a piece of furniture into a practical writing desk. The sophisticated, precisely calibrated mechanism enables a smooth transition from a restraining function to a workstation. The interior reveals a leather-covered top, a wealth of drawers of different sizes, and an original storage compartment, all of which tell a deep attention to functionality and detail. Below the desk top is a central body with two rows of five capacious drawers. At the back, the structure is complemented by four open compartments, designed to allow placement in the center of the room, making the cabinet ideal for even small rooms. The top is topped with a transparent glass plate, which protects the surface without hiding its elegant structure, while providing a useful shelf. The entire structure is made of fine stained walnut wood, and rests on an anodized aluminum base with wooden feet. 804 Secrétaire is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by Bernini, guaranteeing its uniqueness and historical value.
