Arne Vodder Danish Mid-Century Mahogany Sideboard

About the Item

A stately piece of well-considered proportions, this sideboard designed by prominent Danish architect and furniture designer Arne Vodder (1926-2009) is rich in design. Trained by master carpenter Niels Vodder at the School of Interior Design in the mid-1940s, Vodder completed his training by becoming a qualified architect at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen in 1947, where his teacher and mentor was Finn Juhl. In the 1950s and 1960s, Vodder entered into close collaboration with Sibast Furniture, designing a lot of the furniture exported by the company, much of which was used to furnish distinguished offices all over the world. Developed out of this iconic partnership, this well-crafted sideboard is no exception to Vodder's highly-renowned simple, organic style, and his elegant design and profound understanding of materials. Smoothly sliding cabinet doors with stylish brass pulls open to reveal interior shelving. By using a refined form, Vodder has allowed the handsomely figured mahogany grain to shine.
