About the Item

Ole Wanscher studied at the Danish School of Art and Design, and was drew great inspiration from his professor, Kaare Klint. Wanscher created his best-known designs primarily between the late 1940s and early 1960s, in the post-war era when the ‘design for everyone’ philosophy emerged. Wanscher took great interest in industrially produced yet high-quality furniture, designing several successful pieces. Wanscher's work has remained popular with furniture collectors, being refered to as delicate, elegant and very orderly. Listed is a rare teak coffee table designed by Ole Wanscher and produced by A.J. Iversen. It has beautiful details but is rather no-nonsense. The table has been sanded professionally and refinished with a fresh dash of furniture oil. General note: Shipping quotes as supplied by 1stdibs are only indicative. L.O.V. is the abbreviation of Labor Onia Vincit which means 'Work conquers all’. In the days Dutch company L.O.V., based in Oosterbeek, was quite a famous factory. Historically they played a significant role with their progressive principles: L.O.V. was for example the first factory to introduce the modern 8-hours working day. L.O.V. designs toggle from being quite traditional to extremely modernist — in every piece of their furniture you feel that the spirit of Modernism...
