AJ Iversen Teak Coffee Table by Ole Wanscher 'Scandinavian Modern'

About the Item

Ole Wanscher studied at the Danish School of Art and Design, and was drew great inspiration from his professor, Kaare Klint. Wanscher created his best-known designs primarily between the late 1940s and early 1960s, in the post-war era when the ‘design for everyone’ philosophy emerged. Wanscher took great interest in industrially produced yet high-quality furniture, designing several successful pieces. Wanscher's work has remained popular with furniture collectors, being refered to as delicate, elegant and very orderly. Listed is a rare teak coffee table designed by Ole Wanscher and produced by A.J. Iversen. It has beautiful details but is rather no-nonsense. The table has been sanded professionally and refinished with a fresh dash of furniture oil. General note: Shipping quotes as supplied by 1stdibs are only indicative. This stunning R-60 ‘Cricket’ table lamp was designed in 1962 by Otto Wasch for Raak Amsterdam. It consists of a polished metal cilinder with two pins in it, a touch of minimalist genius. By changing the postion of the pins, the lamp can be placed in either a higher or lower postion. Its resemblance with a cricket is uncanny. The listed Cricket lamp is in original condition, wear consistent with age and use. The on- and off switch still at the bottom of the lamp. Wiring and plug have been renewed in the days, it carries a European plug and can be made suitable for use in the USA by changing the plug or using a holiday converter.
