Photograph Color photograph made with archival pigments on fine art rag paper Size varies based on edition This work comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and an artist signed label on verso. For over a decade Maxi Cohen has been photographing and filming lush abstract images of water from Bali to Botswana to Brazil which are mesmerizing, meditative, and colorful. The Zambezi River Stacking Tables was her first in an on-going progression of video multimedia sculptures. Here she is offering a photographic series of water lilies from the Okavango Delta. Maxi Cohen is a multi-disciplinary artist whose films, video, photography, and installations often investigate issues around cultural, racial, and gender identity with a transcendent poignancy and beauty. Her films include the feature-length Joe and Maxi (1978), an award-winning documentary about the relationship between the artist and her father, and South Central Los Angeles: Inside Voices (1994), a documentary film about the African-Americans, Koreans, and Latinos who were living in areas most affected by the 1992 Los Angeles riots. A recipient of awards and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Jerome Foundation, the New York State Council of the Arts, and Art Matters, Cohen's work is in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and other museums around the world and whose films have played in movie theaters and on television internationally. MICHAEL RAEDECKER Day at Night, 2023
Located in New York, NY
Laser printer pigment transfer, dispersion, acrylic, glitter, and thread on canvas. Each unique edition is accompanied by the new comprehensive monograph, Michael Raedecker, published by Phaidon Edition of 10 This work is signed, titled, numbered, dated by year on verso, and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. Phaidon and Artspace are pleased to present day at night, a new series of ten unique embroidered prints on canvas by contemporary artist Michael Raedecker. Released on the occasion of Raedecker’s new comprehensive Phaidon survey, each limited edition includes a signed copy of the publication as well as a signed Certificate of Authenticity. Since the beginning of his career as a painter, Raedecker has incorporated embroidery into his works as a means of challenging the conventional hierarchy of fine art techniques. His new day at night editions include thread, paint, and glitter hand-applied throughout, making each piece a singular work of art. Raedecker’s practice as a whole is engaged with a process of re-contextualizing familiar ideas and spaces, asking the viewer to question held assumptions. Swimming pools are a recurring subject for Raedecker, who is fascinated by the ways in which paintings of pools...

Michael Bauer Baba Creme Limited Edition Print
By Phaidon
Located in New York, NY
Print Full bleed six-color silkscreen printed on Letra Ecru 300 gsm Measures: 34.00 x 24.50 in 86.4 x 62.2 cm Edition of 50 This work is signed and numbered by the artist on recto. The imagery for this edition is derived in part from what Michael Bauer calls his “telephone drawings”—quick, loose sketches made while talking on the phone or otherwise distracted. Bauer saves these doodles, no matter how rough or silly, and uses them as raw materials to be copied, scanned, altered, and combined. Bauer often works in series, making groups of paintings that metaphorically “talk back” to one another while simultaneously standing on their own as individual works. As he says, “Every painting that I do relies on the last twenty I did.” In a neat literalization of his process, this print includes the words “baba” and “creme,” recurring terms Bauer uses as verbal readymades for their phonetic qualities and mutable meanings. The amorphic, animalistic forms of German painter Michael Bauer are built upon color washes, meandering lines, and bulbous protrusions. Utilizing a variety of rendering techniques and materials, including pointillism, text and high-chroma colors, Bauer transforms his free-form compositions into dynamic and ornamented abstractions. He borrows from the colorful tradition of Modernist composition, juxtaposing collaged cutouts with a bevy of 20th century painting methodologies—including Cubist, Pop, and Surrealist techniques—to make the swirling paintings...

Dusk Lilies (Black & White Landscape Still Life Photograph of Water Lilies)
By Betsy Weis
Located in Hudson, NY
Minimalist landscape photograph of black and white lilies on water "Dusk Lilies", photographed by Betsy Weis in 2006 archival inkjet print on watercolor paper 20 x 30 inches, 27 x 37 inches in white frame with white mat & anti-reflective non-glare glass Wire backing for easy installation, ready to hang as is Photographed at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, this black and white archival pigment print by Betsy Weis captures a cluster of water lilies afloat on a glassy, onyx-like body of water. Looming clouds and nearby trees are reflected in the pond's serene surface. Crisp, moody, and rich in texture, the photograph can stand on its own as a quiet glimpse at nature, or can be juxtaposed with others in the series to form a more complete vision. This photograph is available unframed, $1800. The image measures 20 x 30 inches, and the paper measures 24 x 26 inches. Artist statement: Nature provides the perfect model of beauty, according to Plato and Socrates. In the classical period, something was considered beautiful because it existed in nature; art was secondary. In the 18th Century, the German philosopher Johann Joachim Winckelmann argued against the idea that art imitates life, believing that qualities superior to nature are found in art, specifically, ideal beauty, and “brain-born images”. Neoclassical thought represented that art need not serve any end other than its own existence. For me, beauty is an ideal, nature is real, and art comes from the brain. I take pictures in nature, finding shifting, disparate, and beautiful landscapes. I develop my pictures of trees...
