About

Although Chanel probably didnt have much of a choice, "Cross" motifs became a recurring theme throughout her career. From her time at the orphanage in Aubazine to her fascination with the art of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, she copied and pasted with abandon ,but, was lucky enough to have the eye to do so.

This substantial Renaissance style pendant has ruby and emerald pate de verre stones within bezel settings. Goossens even decorates the back of the bronze pendant as antique pendant might look from several hundred years ago. A powerful and striking jewel.

It takes an amazingly singular vision to lift a Renaissance cross, morph it with white silks, Scottish tweeds and invent a style millions have emulated to this day. Chanel was one of fashion's original mixmasters. 4" pendant on 38" Chain.
