Rare Antique Georgian Late 18th Century Table Cut Emerald and Diamond Ring
Located in London, GB
Rare Antique Late 18th Century Emerald and Diamond Ring This outstanding 18K gold ring dates to the late 18th century, circa 1780 and was made in Western Europe. A table cut natural emerald, likely to be of Columbian origin, is mounted in a gold rub-over setting and displays a gorgeous bright green hue. It is surrounded in all the cardinal directions by rose cut diamonds in closed-back rubover silver settings. The triangular facets of rose cuts were very popular during the Georgian period as they glistened more beautifully in candlelight than any other cut. The intricate openwork bezel is attached to ornate shoulders which lead to a rococo scrolled pierced shank, typical ornamentation of the 18th century. The ring is in great condition despite being over 200 years old. It carries a variety of Swedish hallmarks from when it was later brought into the country and subsequently stamped upon entry. UK size Q...
