'Tops in Taps' Ann Miller was still going strong at 75 years old when she made her last appearance in the musical, "Follies." She was one of M.G.M's most prolific dancers and considered by many to be the greatest female tap dancer of all time.
Hilary, a friend of many years, is still going strong at 96. We saw this production at the Papermill Playhouse. Years ago, I was a press agent working in Henry Luhrman's office where we represented "Sugar Babies" with Ann Miller and Mickey Rooney.
Bio
Hilary Knight (born November 1, 1926) is an American writer-artist who is the illustrator of more than 50 books and the author of nine books. He is best known as the illustrator of Kay Thompson's Eloise (1955) and others in the Eloise series.
Knight has illustrated for a wide variety of clients, creating artwork for magazines, children's fashion advertisements, greeting cards, record albums and posters for Broadway musicals, including Gypsy, Irene, Half A Sixpence, Hallelujah Baby! and No, No Nanette.

Sandro Visca, born in L'Aquila in 1944, has lived for many years in Pescara where from 1968 to 2003 he has taught Painting Disciplines at the Academy Section of the "G. Misticoni "(and among his many students, we remember at least the explosive talent of Andrea Pazienza). He made his debut early in important exhibitions, and already in '62 he was selected for the National Design Biennial "Premio Recoaro Terme" together with artists such as Casorati, Capogrossi, Morandi and Guttuso. In 1963 he moved to Rome where he lived until 1967. Versatile and busy, he collaborated in those years with the important seasons of the Teatro Stabile dell'Aquila, realizing in 1969 the scenes of Alberto Burri for "The Adventure of a Poor Christian" by Ignazio Silone (directed by Valerio Zurlini). The meeting with Burri grows to friendship, human association no less than artistic. Together they will spend numerous hunting trips, among the Umbria of the master of Città di Castello and their arcane mountains of Abruzzo. In 1973 he was invited with a work of six meters, in the Italian section "The empty space of the Habitat" of the XV International Triennial of Milan. Caviar20 is excited to be offering this striking collage by the inimitable Louise Nevelson, who is regarded as one of the most original, influential, and successful American sculptors of the 20th century.
Nevelson's enduring appeal lies in her distinct visual language, which is apparent in all of her works, regardless of medium. While her iconic monochromatic wood assemblages are instantly recognizable, she continuously experimented with diverse materials, including resin, steel, and bronze, as well as numerous printmaking techniques.
Collage was an important part of Nevelson's practice, defining her signature aesthetic. Much like her approach to printmaking, her collages possess a sculptural ethos that transcends the two-dimensional surface, imbuing the composition with a remarkable sense of volume, texture, and depth. One could argue that Nevelson's sculpture was informed by collage in that she took assorted existing forms combining them in order to create an entirely new and distinct arrangement.
This untitled collage is an exceptional example of the artist's mastery of the medium. Featuring an assemblage of wood veneer, mirror, and metal, this work reflects Nevelson's meticulous sense of form and rhythm. Subtle details, such as the alternating direction of the wood veneer grain further heighten the visual complexity of the otherwise minimal composition.
The inclusion of wood veneer marks a notable shift for Nevelson, who was previously loyal to a strict monochromatic palette of black or white. It wasn’t until the 1970s with her experimentation in collage that she expanded her palette. Nevelson also created jewellery and this collage acknowledges her activity in that realm.
Created at the age of 83 during the final chapter of her career, this piece powerfully captures Nevelson's enduring spirit and dedication to artistic innovation.
Today Nevelson's work can be found in every major public collection across North America and beyond.

The artist Loren Munk (born 1951) is primarily known for his YouTube nickname James Kalm as an uploader of videos about New York exhibitions, amongst others. He presents himself as a maker of contemporary paintings for several decades and of cubist paintings of urban imagery. Munk has received accolades for his drawings and mosaics. He differs from traditional mosaic artists by the manner in which he incorporates glass into his decorative paintings. His unique and innovative use of materials such as mirror, gold-leaf and glass mosaic affirmed him as a founding force of Kitsch Art and a leading member of New York Neo-Expressionism.
Munk's work debuted in SoHo in 1981 with a double show at J. Fields Gallery and Gabrielle Bryers. Since then, he has overseen an international career. In addition to exhibiting in Brazil, France, Germany and the United States, Munk has received national and overseas, public and private commissions. He is well represented in important collections throughout Europe, South and North America and the Middle East.
Most recently, Munk has been producing a series of paintings which tackle the subject of art itself through a historical and diagrammatic lens. Munk documents the New York art world in YouTube videos, using the name James Kalm.
