Sake - archival pigment print
Located in Beverly Hills, CA
A gallery quality archival pigment print of the original oil painting signed by the author. Limited edition of 100. This painting is inspired by Japanese elements and includes traditional decorative ornaments. It depicts a samurai and two geishas playing music and serving sake. The bright colors and the composition of the piece emphasize the merrymaking of drinking culture and express bright emotions associated with it. The sake makes this party possible, and the grid frames of the composition suggest that it is the viewer who is drunk. The painting is signed by the author and can be framed or unframed. It can decorate any corner of the room based on individual preference. Sergiy Andreyev...

Large Abstract Expressionist Watercolor Color Field Painting Paul Jenkins Style
Located in Surfside, FL
Dominic Mingolla (1922 – 1999) Mingolla created paintings in many different materials and genres. Best known for his large abstract expressionist watercolor paintings similar in style to Paul Jenkins and for his Enamel work. His work bears affinities both to Lyrical Abstraction and to Tachisme artists such as Nicolas de Staël, Serge Poliakoff, Andre Lanskoy, Hans Hartung, Jean-Paul Riopelle, Gustave Singier, Alfred Manessier, Roger Bissiere, "Lyrical Abstraction arose in the 1960s and 70s, following the challenge of Minimalism and Conceptual art. Many artists began moving away from geometric, hard-edge, and minimal styles, toward more lyrical, sensuous, romantic abstractions worked in a loose gestural style. These "lyrical abstractionists" sought to expand the boundaries of abstract painting, and to revive and reinvigorate a painterly 'tradition' in American art. At the same time, these artists sought to reinstate the primacy of line and color as formal elements in works composed according to aesthetic principles – rather than as the visual representation of sociopolitical realities or philosophical theories." "Characterized by intuitive and loose paint handling, spontaneous expression, illusionist space, acrylic staining, process, occasional imagery, and other painterly techniques, the abstract works included in this exhibition sing with rich fluid color and quiet energy. Artists associated with Lyrical Abstraction include: Natvar Bhavsar, Lamar Briggs, Friedel Dzubas, Sam Francis, Ronnie Landfield, Pat Lipsky...

Stanley Boxer Mixed Media Abstract Expressionist Painting on Paper, Gold
Located in Surfside, FL
Abstract, 1987 Hand signed and dated verso Not sure of technique. this might be a monotype or monoprint with hand painting. The handmade paper is cut somewhat irregularly as per the artists intentions. Stanley Boxer (1926-May 8, 2000) was an American abstract expressionist artist best known for thickly painted abstract works of art. He was also an accomplished sculptor and printmaker. He received awards from the Guggenheim Fellowship and the National Endowment for the Arts. Boxer was born in New York City, and began his formal education after World War II, when he left the Navy and studied at the Art Students League of New York. He drew, painted, made prints, and sculpted. His work was recognized by art critic Clement Greenberg, who categorized him as a color field painter, A group that included Barnett Newman, Clyfford Still, and Mark Rothko and was a form of Abstract Expressionism and later included Helen Frankenthaler, Ad Reinhardt, Kenneth Noland, Gene Davis, Jules Olitski, Raymond Parker and Morris Louis. Boxer himself was adamant in rejecting this stylistic label. Over the years, he remained loyal to the materially dense abstract mode on which his reputation rested.. Art critic Grace Glueck wrote "Never part of a movement or trend, though obviously steeped in the language of Modernism, the abstract painter Stanley Boxer was a superb manipulator of surfaces, intensely bonding texture and color." In 1953 Boxer had his first solo exhibition of paintings in New York City, and showed regularly thereafter until his death. His paintings and sculpture were represented in New York City during the late 1960s through 1974 by the Tibor de Nagy Gallery, then by the André Emmerich Gallery from 1975 until 1993, and finally by Salander-O'Reilly Galleries until its demise in 2007. Dolls - archival pigment print
Located in Beverly Hills, CA
A gallery quality archival pigment print of the original oil painting signed by the author. Limited edition of 100. Print #3. The painting is a reflection on a philosophical idea of not always having control over one’s life. The two halves of the painting suggest that the reality of what is happening may be an illusion, and the puppet master is someone else entirely. The nakedness of the woman and the elaborate costume of the jester make us wonder at which is more powerful. Dolls are an excellent decoration that can captivate the curiosity of the viewer. Detail #6, Bright Abstract Art, Contemporary Contrasting Painting, Fauvist Art
Located in Deddington, GB
Detail #6 - Part of Jon Rowland's 'Portraying the Essence' theme. As with Detail #4 this theme has emerged as some of the paintings and sketches themselves have been deconstructed and abstracted. This provides the opportunity to play with colour and shape, and to create paintings of detail and depth. Scenes are painted over and over. Each picture dissects the landscape to expose its essence and abstracts and ‘decorates’ the result of this analysis. This has been the case when I have painted a favourite area in Scotland where the landscape is both sensual and evocative. The theme of Details is built up from the landscape in SW Scotland. Discover new paintings by Jon Rowland and his abstract expressionism with Wychwood Art. Each work has been carefully selected by Deborah Allan our Chief Art Curator. Wychwood Art have exhibited Jon Rowland in London during a pop-up exhibition of theirs at the Darren Baker Gallery. His paintings have been displayed at the Royal Academy and at the Berthold and Darren Baker Gallery in London. He has also exhibited in group exhibitions at Linacre and Green Colleges, at Swann Gallery in Woodstock, and with Wychwood Art at Battersea Art Fair. He was one of six contemporary artists who took part in an exhibition of views of Blenheim Palace, juxtaposing the original visions with today's, as part of the celebration of the 300th anniversary of Capability Brown's birth. Solo exhibitions have been at the Said Business School, Wolfson College in Central Oxford, and most recently at the Sewell Centre Art Gallery and Cornerstone Art Centre in Oxfordshire, and the Boiler Room...

Large Hudson River Figurative Modernist Landscape Oil Painting Edward Avedisian
Located in Surfside, FL
Edward Avedisian ( 1936-2007 ) Gouache or oil on paper, 3 guys around a car, hand signed in paint lower left, Measures 30"x 22.5" Edward Avedisian (June 15, 1936, Lowell, Massachusetts – August 17, 2007, Philmont, New York) was an American abstract painter who came into prominence during the 1960s. His work was initially associated with Color field painting and in the late 1960s with Lyrical Abstraction and Abstract Expressionism. He studied art at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. By the late 1950s he moved to New York City. Between 1958 and 1963 Avedisian had six solo shows in New York. In 1958 he initially showed at the Hansa Gallery, then he had three shows at the Tibor de Nagy Gallery and in 1962 and 1963 at the Robert Elkon Gallery. He continued to show at the Robert Elkon Gallery almost every year until 1975. During the 1960s his work was broadly visible in the contemporary art world. He joined the dynamic art scene in Greenwich Village, frequenting the Cedar Tavern on Tenth Street, associating with the critic Clement Greenberg, and joining a new generation of abstract artists, such as Darby Bannard, Kenneth Noland, Jules Olitski, and Larry Poons. Avedisian was among the leading figures to emerge in the New York art world during the 1960s. An artist who mixed the hot colors of Pop Art with the cool, more analytical qualities of Color Field painting, he was instrumental in the exploration of new abstract methods to examine the primacy of optical experience. One of his paintings was appeared on the cover of Artforum, in 1969, his work was included in the 1965 Op Art The Responsive Eye exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art and in four annuals at the Whitney Museum of American Art. His paintings were widely sought after by collectors and acquired by major museums in New York and elsewhere. He has been exhibited in prominent galleries, such as the Anita Shapolsky Gallery and the Berry Campbell Gallery in New York City. Edward Avedisian was known for his brightly colored, boldly composed canvases that combined Minimalism's rigor, Pop art exuberance and the saturated tones of Color Field painting. Roberta Smith of the NYT writes of Avedesian: "Edward Avedisian helped establish the hotly colored, but emotionally cool, abstract painting that succeeded Abstract Expressionism in the early 1960s. This young luminary harnessed elements of minimalism, pop, and color field painting to create prominent works of epic proportions that energized the New York art scene of the time." In 1996 Avedisian showed his paintings from the 1960s at the Mitchell Algus Gallery, then in SoHo. His last show, dominated by recent landscapes, was in 2003 at the Algus gallery, now in Chelsea. Selected Exhibitions: Op Art: The Responsive Eye, at the Museum of Modern Art, Whitney Museum’s Young America 1965 Expo 67, held in Montreal, Canada. Six Painters (along with Darby Bannard, Dan Christensen, Ron Davis...

Specifically Nowhere, Yellow (Abstract Geometric Painting with Grids on Yellow)
Located in Hudson, NY
Large abstract geometric painting with intricate line work in pencil and gouache on a bright yellow background "Specifically, Nowhere (Yellow)" made by Hudson Valley artist, Donise English, in 2022 gouache, acrylic, pencil, and colored pencil on paper, mounted on panel 48 x 48 inches unframed, 50 x 50 inches with a dark brown stained wood floater frame Surface is protected with four coats of an archival UV protective varnish Signed, verso Excellent condition and ready to hang This large abstract geometric painting was made by Hudson Valley based artist, Donise English, in 2022. The composition begins with a bright yellow background overlaid with intricate line work in graphite and colored pencil. Thousands of hand drawn lines serve as a backdrop for a bold geometric form in a dusty violet and dark gray gridded pattern that references "an imagined city grid", says the artist. The painting on paper is mounted to wood panel and complemented with a dark stained wood floater frame. It's in excellent condition and ready to hang as is. The surface is protected with four coats of an archival UV protective varnish. More about the work: Donise English emphasizes lines, grids, and fields of subtle color to evoke imagined places and invented structures. While precise lines and straight angles are often associated with themes in architecture and urban planning designs, English conveys a geometric motif guided by intuition rather than a ruler. Variations on grids retain flaws and unmistakable traces of the artists’ hand; her style of draftsmanship shies away from intellectualism and instead makes her compositions feel very personal. Each design is intensely intricate, incorporating gouache, acrylic, pen, graphite, ink and colored pencil. Artist Statement: My work is about the way visual diagrams present information that describes how something is made or the way it is. I am interested in drawing and collaging multiple layers of information that refer abstractly to maps, architectural drawings and blueprints or patterns and structures found in such things as roller coasters, power lines and fences. I use gouache and collaged paper in a series of layers that are a visual and ideological response to the previous layer to define my pictorial space. For each piece I create a set of rules to follow about the use of a limited palette, a grid format, opacity of paper and whether a piece may include curving lines or maintain a rectilinear structure. Quarantine - archival pigment print 43x58"
Located in Beverly Hills, CA
A gallery quality archival pigment print of the original oil painting signed by the author. Limited edition of 100. Paper size 44x60" Image size 43x58" The painting was inspired by feelings of loneliness and social distancing during the pandemic. The canvas is made to look like a cracked mirror with a jester in a red hat on the other side. The cracks spread from where the jester touched it with his wine glass. Life in the painting seems to be broken into many tiny pieces, where the central character is reflected holding his guitar, the only thing remaining after all love was drained out of his life. Quarantine reminds the viewer to cherish life in its fullness and the people that are dear to them. The painting is signed by the author and can be framed or unframed. It can decorate any corner of the room based on individual preference. Sergiy Andreyev...
