This is an antique engraved view entitled "Fodinae aerariae Falunenfis, qui orientem fpectat, delineatio" (Copper mining in Falun), Sweden in 1705 from "Sueciae Antiquae et Hodiernae"' published in Stockholm by Erik Dahlberg (1625-1703). The engraving was created by Johannes van den Aveelen (1650-1727), who was an accomplished copperplate engraver who emigrated to Sweden to work on Dahlberg's spectacular book, "Sueciae Antiquae et Hodiernae", which was focused on the views and architecture of Sweden, both in the ancient past and at the time of the publication.

An educator, administrator, and social reformer, Anna J. Haywood Cooper was born a slave in Raleigh, North Carolina, and spent fourteen years fighting to gain access to Latin and Greek classes reserved for men at St. Augustine's Normal School and Collegiate Institute, from which she graduated in 1877. She married the Reverend A. C. Cooper at St. Augustine's, where each taught, but after his death in 1881, she began the second phase of her education at Oberlin. That year she joined Mary Eliza Church (Terrell) and Ida A. Gibbs Hunt in the "gentleman's"
collegiate course and graduated in 1884. One of the pioneer African-American women who earned a B.A., she returned to Oberlin for an M.A. in Mathematics, which she received in 1887.
Continuing her trailblazing for race and gender issues, Cooper wrote the feminist manifesto, A Voice from the South, spoke at feminist and educational conferences, and achieved many honors such as membership in the American Negro Academy. She was a leader in the National Association of Colored Women. Aligned with DuBois's philosophy, she spoke at the
1900 Pan African Conference in London, arguing for self-determination for African-Americans and an end to colonialism in Africa and apartheid in South Africa.
Anna Cooper received a Ph.D. at the Sorbonne in 1925 after a decade of study while she also maintained a full-time teaching load. Her thesis was on French policies during slavery. She had been shaping Frelinghuysen University in Washington, D.C., an interdenominational Bible college, and became its president in 1930, at the age of 72. She died in 1964 at the age of 105.
In preparation for this ongoing series the artist received images from Legacy Magazine’s photo archive of 19th Century women writers, understanding that she’d obtain permission from each source to use the photos in her artworks. Permissions were received and she began the series in 1992. The Harvard/Radcliffe Schlesinger library then offered Suzanne access to relevant microfiche images that were employed in subsequent works. In addition, the library exhibited the in 1992. The collector Vivien Leone purchased and donated one to the library, and the library subsequently purchased two more.
The Women’s Rights Historical Park in Seneca Falls, NY, exhibited the growing series in 1995 during the 75th anniversary of women’s suffrage. The Oberlin College...

A set of lithographs by College of San Mateo class of 1992, instructed by Patricia A. Pearce (American, b 1948). Each print is on laid paper, meaning they all have ragged edges. Presented in a black folio with title sheet, table of contents, and ties. Includes protective tissue paper dividers between each piece.
Each piece is numbered, titled, and signed by the artist.
Patricia Pearce is a California artist who attended San Francisco State and UC Irvine and is the adjunct Professor of Fine Art at the College of San Mateo. Her early work on paper explored images of garments using various printmaking techniques. Later, she began to work mainly in collagraph and monotype prints creating singular images of kimonos and ribbons in her subtle shifting, subdued pieces are constructed in a three-step process. Awards include Grade Prize, 3rd Biennial Exhibition of Prints, Wakayama Japan; Grant, Peninsula Community Foundation. Judith Gaulke (American, b. 1946) is originally from Hood River, Oregon. Gaulke has been working in oils on canvas most of her life, painting seriously since 1988 when she had her first showing, then her first gallery representation in 1990. She is attracted to lone objects and scenes not yet populated — table settings, chairs, boats — all interpreted to give the viewer a sense of calm. Gaulke now resides in Atherton, California with her husband Michael. Together they created the Michael and Judith Gaulke Chair of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Oregon State University, an endowment for the College of Engineering.

The women’s right to vote in the United States is owed largely to the efforts of Carrie Chapman Catt.
Born in Wisconsin and educated at Iowa State, Catt left work as a high school principle and later as a newspaper editor to join the fight for women’s suffrage.
Skilled as a lecturer, Catt rose rapidly to national leadership, succeeding Susan B. Anthony as president of the National/American Women’s Suffrage Association in 1900.
Catt’s pressure on President Woodrow Wilson and her tireless work to secure state ratification, culminated in the Nineteenth Amendment’s adoption in 1920.
Following suffrage work, Catt devoted herself to peace and disarmament issues, serving as chair of the Committee on the Cause and Cure of War.

Half length with long hair, cap with jewelled brooch, jewelled collar, and robes edged in ermine, holding orb in left hand and sceptre in right. Within a rectangular frame with crown, orb, and sceptre above and with coat of arms, putti, and a portrait of Elizabeth of York below. With English inscription below.
Henry VII (1457-1509) was the King of England and Lord of Ireland from his seizure of the crown on 22 August 1485 to his death. He was the first monarch of the House of Tudor. Henry attained the throne when his forces defeated King Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth Field, the culmination of the Wars of the Roses.

"The South View of the City of Worcester, from Digley Fields" was engraved by English artist Thomas Sanders (Active: Mid-Late 18th Century) after a drawing by himself. "Hewell, the Seat of the Right Honorable the Earl of Plymouth" was engraved by English artist Michael Angelo Rooker (1743-1801) after a watercolor painting by English artist Paul Sandby (1731-1809). Comes from Nash's two volume "Collections for the History of Worcestershire", (1781-1782) (First edition), which consists of 75 engravings. Each work is printed from one copper plate in one color: black. There was a (Second edition) "with Additions" bound in with Volume II of this portfolio published by John White in (1799). And both the First and Second editions of "Collections for the History of Worcestershire" are based off Thomas Sanders' 1779-1781 "Perspective Views of the Market Towns within the County of Worcester". "The South View of the City of Worcester, from Digley Fields" has an unidentified watermark in the center of its sheet resembling "XV".

Treadway Russell Nash (24 June 1724 – 26 January 1811) was an English clergyman, now known as an early historian of Worcestershire and the author of Collections for the History of Worcestershire, an important source document for Worcestershire county histories. He was a fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London.
Treadway Russell Nash was born on 24 June 1724 born at Clerkenleap, in Kempsey, Worcestershire. His family were from Ombersley. They had lands there and at Claines, and had later bought lands in the Reformation around St Peter's, Droitwich. He was related to James Nash and John Nash, both MPs for Worcester. His father Richard, a grandson of Sir Rowland Berkeley, died in 1740, and Richard's eldest son in 1757. As a result, Treadway Russell Nash inherited the Russells' Strensham estates from his brother, as well as the Nash estates, and took both names.
He was educated from the age of twelve at King's School, Worcester, and became a scholar at Worcester College, Oxford aged fifteen. In March 1749, he accompanied his brother on a trip to the continent, to aid Richard's health. They visited Paris for about six weeks, before spending the summer "on the banks of the Loire". They then visited "Bourdeaux, Thoulouse, Montpelier, Marseilles, Leghorn, Florence, Rome, Naples, Bologna, Venice, Padua, Verona, Milan, Lyons, and again Paris"; such expeditions are often known as the Grand Tour.
On his return in late summer 1751, Nash took up a post as Vicar of Eynsham through his friend and future brother-in-law, John Martin. He also had an income as a tutor at Oxford. He took his Doctor of Divinity degree and left Oxford, having "gone out grand compounder", following the death of his brother. He also left his benefice at Eynsham in 1757. Printed in Augsburg by Erhard Ratdolt on March 17, 1492. "Preface Page" has a bull's head and cross watermark in the upper center of its sheet. Some information and old prices inscribed in pencil to their sheets.

Erhard Ratdolt (1442–1528) was an early German printer from Augsburg. He was active as a printer in Venice from 1476 to 1486, and afterwards in Augsburg. From 1475 to 1478 he was in partnership with two other German printers. The first book the partnership produced was the Calendarium (1476), written and previously published by Regiomontanus, which offered one of the earliest examples of a modern title page. Other noteworthy publications are the "Historia Romana of Appianus" (1477), and the first edition of "Euclid's Elements" (1482), where he solved the problem of printing geometric diagrams, the "Poeticon astronomicon", also from 1482, "Haly Abenragel" (1485), and "Alchabitius" (1503). Artist Biography: Martin Lewis (1881-1962) was born in Castlemaine, Victoria, Australia on 7 June 1881. He was the second of eight children and had a passion for drawing. At the age of 15, he left home and traveled in New South Wales, Australia, and in New Zealand, working as a pothole digger and a merchant seaman. He returned to Sydney and settled into a Bohemian community outside Sydney. Two of his drawings were published in the radical Sydney newspaper, The Bulletin. He studied with Julian Ashton at the Art Society's School in Sydney. Ashton, an English-born Australian artist and teacher, known for his support of the Heidelberg School and for his influential art school in Sydney.
