circa 1970 original travel poster Suisse Jungfrau Region Lauterbrunnen
Located in PARIS, FR
The circa 1970 original travel poster Suisse Jungfrau Region Lauterbrunnen, designed by Swiss artist Rolf Krebs, beautifully captures the serene majesty of Switzerland's Jungfrau Region, particularly the idyllic village of Lauterbrunnen. This poster, like many travel advertisements of the time, aimed to transport viewers into the picturesque Alpine landscapes, enticing them to explore the natural beauty and tranquility of the Swiss mountains. The artwork features a panoramic view of Lauterbrunnen Valley, framed by the towering snow-capped peaks of the Jungfrau, Mönch, and Eiger mountains. Krebs masterfully uses a combination of vibrant greens from the valley floor and stark whites of the surrounding mountains to evoke a sense of awe and grandeur. The quaint village of Lauterbrunnen, with its charming wooden chalets and cascading waterfalls, adds a sense of serenity to the dramatic landscape, emphasizing Switzerland’s timeless appeal as a destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers. This poster is emblematic of mid-20th-century travel art, which emphasized both the natural beauty of destinations and the sense of escape they offered. The simple yet evocative design showcases the unspoiled wilderness of the Bernese Oberland, a region renowned for its hiking trails, skiing resorts, and breathtaking vistas. Lauterbrunnen, with its iconic Staubbach Falls, is prominently depicted, serving as a gateway to the larger Jungfrau Region and its endless opportunities for outdoor exploration. Rolf Krebs' poster is not only a promotional piece but also a work of art that invites viewers to experience the Swiss Alps in all their grandeur. It reflects the era’s focus on travel as an immersive, rejuvenating experience, and the poster continues to be a cherished collector’s item, representing both the nostalgia of vintage travel advertising and the timeless allure of Switzerland’s natural landscapes. Original Poster Tourism - Photography...

Circa 1910 illustrated document by Paillon - Panoramic view of the Mont Blanc
Located in PARIS, FR
This rare circa 1910 illustrated document by Maurice Paillon presents a detailed panoramic view of the Mont Blanc Massif, one of the most legendary and awe-inspiring mountain ranges in the world. Capturing the majesty of Western Europe’s highest peak (4,809m) and its surrounding summits, glaciers, and valleys, this historical document serves as both an artistic masterpiece and a valuable mountaineering reference. At the time of its creation, alpinism was flourishing, with climbers from across Europe eager to conquer Mont Blanc and its neighboring peaks. The illustration, likely derived from photographic and topographic studies, offers a remarkably accurate relief representation of the range. Every major peak, ridge, and glacier is meticulously labeled, providing an invaluable geographical guide to the region. The sepia-toned print evokes the early 20th-century aesthetic, blending scientific precision with artistic craftsmanship. The inclusion of key locations such as Chamonix, Aiguille du Midi, Dôme du Goûter, and the Vallée...

Munichau (Austria)
Located in San Francisco, CA
This artwork titled "Munichau (Austria)" 1926, is a color etching on paper by Austrian artist Luigi Kasimir, 1881-1962. It is hand signed in pencil by the artist's estate at the lower center. The plate mark (image) size is 11.5 x 11.5 inches, framed size is 21 x 20.75 inches. Custom framed in a wooden gold frame, with grey/green matting . It is in Excellent condition. About the artist. Luigi Kasimir was born in 1881 at Pettau, today Ptuj, Slovenia, then a part of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. He inherited his talent from his ancestors; his grandfather was a painter and a poet, and his father an officer in the Habsburg army, who later became a professional painter. Kasimir attended the Vienna Academy of Art where he studied under Wilhelm Unger, who introduced him to the technique of the coloured etching, and also to his future wife, the artist Tanna Hoernes.[1] He died in 1962 in Grinzing, a suburb of Vienna.Kasimir was among the first to develop the technique of the coloured etching. Before this, prints were usually hand-coloured with the colour being applied in a casual, haphazard manner. Kasimir would first create a sketch usually in pastel, he then transferred the design on as many as four to six plates, printing one after the other and applying the colour on the plate, all done by hand. Kasimir is mainly famous for his etchings, but he also produced some oil painting, as well as some pastels. One of his favourite genres was the landscape, or veduta. He demonstrated a predisposition street scenes, and tourist landmarks. He depicted places from all over Europe, mainly Italy, Austria, and Germany. He also travelled to the United States to do a series of etchings of famous sights ranging from urban landmarks such as New York City skyscrapers, to natural wonders like Yosemite Valley. Luigi Kasimir’s etchings...
