Silver Cased Military Interest Presentation Snuff Box 1847

An exceptional and rare antique silver snuffbox reading 'PRESENTED TO St. Mr. P CAMPION, 1st Bn 19th Foot, by His, BROTHER SERJEANTS, As A Mark of Their, Sincere Regard.' in its original shaped fitted case and made by Cronin & Wheeler, Birmingham in 1847. The snuff box, probably unused, is simply stunning the cartouche shaped body engraved with rococo 'C' scrolls, engine turning and floral sprays with a hinged cover and richly gilded interior. The box has clear and crisp silver assay and makers marks to the cover and base and has date marks for 1847. Provenance: The property of a gentleman. Sergeant Major Patrick Campion was enlisted with the 19th Foot in 1838 and served in Malta, the Ionian Islands, the West Indies, Canada, the Crimea and India amongst other postings. He received a DCM at the Battle of Alma ‘for his gallant rescue, in company with a couple of his comrades, of a wounded officer of his own company, who was lying in front of the Russian line’s.’ and despite being injured in this act, he recovered and would see action at Inkerman, Redan and the siege of Sevastopol. French Renaissance style gilt bronze and enamel mounted onyx longcase clock French, late 19th century Measures: Height 126cm, width 37cm, depth 30cm This colourful longcase clock was created in France in the late 19th Century. It has been crafted from red marble and green onyx and decorated with gilt bronze and champlevé enamel. The clock consists of a circular enamel dial, mounted onto a cube-shaped case, placed on a tall body which is set on a short marble plinth. The circular clock dial features Arabic numerals and is ornamented with gilt bronze and colourful champlevé enamel designs. This is set within a circular gilt bronze and enamel frame and mounted onto the green onyx block. The corners of the block are lined with gilt bronze bands, and the sides are set with circular, gilt-bronze-framed champlevé enamel forms. Egyptian Revival Bronze and Marble Mantel Clock Egyptian revival mantel clock housed in a polishes black slate and marble stepped case, decorated with winged uraeus and hieroglyphs, surmounted by a patinated bronze sphinx wearing nemes and resting on lions paw feet. Enamel dial with Arabic numerals and original ‘blued’ steel hands. Eight day French movement with anchor escapement striking the hours and halves on a silvered bell. The backplate signed Societe Clusienne S.C.A.P.H. Cluses and numbered 4144. C.1870 Societe Clusienne were based in Cluses near to the Swiss border in France. The case attributed to G.Servant Georges Emile Henri Servant ( 1828-1890) succeeded his father at their foundry at Rue Vieille-du-Temple, Paris in 1855. This is a fine porcelain Shell Dish, beautifully hand painted in pattern 3884 and made by H & R Daniel of London Road, Stoke, Staffordshire Potteries, England. Pieces by H & R Daniel are beautifully decorated and sought after, being very expensive when first made. The dish is quite large and well potted with an embossed raised moulded design to the upper outer rim section. The pattern is called Ribbon & Wreath, pattern number 3884 and is fully recorded as an H & R Daniel pattern. It is finely hand painted with individual flower sprigs, with a gold gilded inner rim edging. The dish has 3884 hand painted in red on the inner foot rim. A beautiful piece by this renowned high quality factory NOTES: H & R DANIEL Henry Daniel (1765-1841) was an enameller and colour maker. Prior to setting up his own manufactory in 1822 he ran a business within the Spode II* factory from at least 1805 to August 1822. In 1822, Henry formed his own business. Richard (1800-1884) Henry’s second son was officially made a partner in 1826. The manufactory known as H & R Daniel continued until 1846 when it ceased due to insolvency. 19th Century English Travelling Dressing Case

A mid-19th century lady’s travelling dressing case. The case is constructed in a finely marked coromandel, with inset brass handles and brass guard bands to the angles. The hinged lid rises to reveal in the upper section, a drop down document holder, with a mirror to the back, the parcel gilt pieces are engraved with a Viscountess’s coronet, probably Charles, 2nd Viscount Hardinge Cornwallis (1822-1894) and inset with turquoises and comprise a suite of four cut-glass jars, a liqueur flask with a fitted cup, the pull-out rear shelf houses seven jars for ink, potions and unguents.
