A Very Fine and Impressive Bohemian 19th Century Vienna-Style Neoclassical Revival Style Pirkenhammer Porcelain Vase - Urn. The ovoid shaped finely painted all around body with allegorical scenes representing 'The Search for Love', with one side depicting a pensive maiden seated on a rock form by the seashore, the opposite side depicting a maiden, also seated by the seashore, being visited by a love-cupid (cherub or angel), flanked by a pair of finely detailed double-headed snake-form 24 carat gilt handles centered with mask terminals, raised on an attached circular gilt, cream and blue Celeste decorated plinth. Stamped with an underglaze black printed crossed hammers mark and further mark "O.P.C.N. / RAD" to the underside. The associated and later domed cobalt-blue, cream and gilt decorated porcelain cover-lid with a cream and gilt bud finial, not original to the vase. Signed "Al Eckardt". Circa: Bohemia, 1890-1894.
The porcelain painter A. Louis Eckardt is mentioned by Waltraud Neuwirth, Porzellanmaler-Lexicon (1977), Vol. I, p.251 as working from the Prager Strasse in Dresden in 1894. The Bohemian Pirkenhammer factory was founded in 1803, and in the second half of the 19th century the factory was exporting to Vienna and London. The Prikenhammer marks on these vases show they were made after 1887, and it is therefore likely this vase can be dated between the time of the introduction of the mark for this Bohemian factory, and the time Eckhardt returned to Dresden in 1894. The surface of the body is encompassed with exceptional chased oriental Chinese dragon designs amidst clouds, all on a matte background; each panel bears a plain and unembellished border.
This antique silver box is fitted with a hinged silver cover, bearing a continuation of cloud ornamentation to the side panels.
The upper plateau of the cover is ornamented with two further dragon designs accented with impressive emanating whiskers, incorporating a circular vacant cartouche to the centre.

Henri Jacot Carriage Clock with Strike Repeat Function

This superb gorge cased carriage clock is beautifully gilded, with a crisp white enamel dial and a roman chapter ring and outer arabic minutes. The eight day two train movement is regulated by a slivered English lever platform escapement, striking on a blued steel gong, with hour repeat button.
The case is numbered 10135 throughout, this coupled with the maker’s mark showing the dates of awards on the front plate, means we can date the clock to between 1878 and 1889.
The front and back plates are both marked with Jacot stamps. The front with the medal stamp listing the exposition awards Jacot had won. Bronzes in 1855 and 1862, and silver medals in 1867 and 1878. This stamp did not change until 1889 when Jacot junior won the companies first gold medal. The back plate shows the parrot trademark stamp with the initials HJ which came into use in 1878.
The back of the dial is also signed by the enameller and numbered with the serial number. This is a very thoroughly marked and numbered clock in excellent condition.

Figures by Kändler were especially popular and served as table decorations at courtly banquets. I knew I needed these to offer to you the moment I saw them. This lovely pair of antique Victorian highly detailed sculptures of the famed Marly rearing horse and groom sculptures are after the stone originals by Guillaume Coustou and will look amazing on your mantle, or wherever you decide. These small replica sculptures were done by many different artists in the late 19th century and were all the rage. Most were never signed but show the original signature of Coustou on the base, as do these. This handsome pair are cast in spelter, an alloy of which zinc is the main constituent, and have an exquisite age patina. They are mounted on their original black painted wood bases. Each sculpture is similar but different.
