About the Item

A finely crafted oak serving platter featuring the iconic “Savoy” silhouette from a limited Alvar Aalto collection by Iittala, Finland. This piece showcases the essence of Finnish design — clean lines, organic form, and understated elegance — reinterpreting Aalto’s renowned shape in a contemporary, functional way. Made from durable green oak, the platter is in excellent condition and comes with its original box (which shows some minor tears from age). Both beautiful and practical, it is ideal for serving or display and represents a collectible piece of Scandinavian design heritage. Approximate dimensions: 28.5 cm (11.22") wide, 35 cm (13.78") deep, and 2 cm (0.79") high. Free worldwide shipping included. In 1936, Alvar Aalto’s groundbreaking series of glass vases was awarded first prize in the Karhula–Iittala Glass Design Competition. At a time when decorative, ornate objects were the norm, Aalto’s simple yet fluid, organic forms represented a bold and revolutionary shift in design. Over the decades, the Aalto vase has become an enduring icon of Finnish craftsmanship and one of the most celebrated glass objects in the world. Each piece in the Alvar Aalto Collection is handcrafted, embodying the essence of modern Scandinavian design. Today, it remains Iittala’s most iconic series and a timeless symbol of elegance and innovation.
