A magnificent, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver Armada jug; part of our wine and drinks related silverware collection This magnificent antique Victorian English sterling silver Armada jug has an elongated pear-shaped form onto a circular pedestal foot. The cylindrical neck of the silver claret jug is embellished with exceptional cast and chased floral and scrolling foliate decoration, all on a matte background. The underside of the pouring lip bears an exceptional shield shaped cartouche displaying a dove with wings extended holding in the claw a branch; all surmounted with a scrolling leaf mantling. The knopped neck is further ornamented with a volute scrolling border flanked with plain bands, to a swept portion encircled with pensile bud designs. The decoration to the body incorporates two large scrolling leaf bordered vacant cartouches, each surmounted with a coronet design embellished with floral ornamentation. Each cartouche is further embellished with a chased figural mask design to the nadir, flanked with large floral motifs. Either side of each cartouche is embellished with an exceptional cast and applied three-dimensional winged mermaid and mermen, gesturing towards the aforementioned coronet. The decoration to the body is further embellished with large scrolling leaf and floral sprays incorporating a cast and applied protruding leopard's head to the anterior portion. This magnificent London silver claret jug retains the original hinged cover, ornamented with chased scrolling leaf decoration and surmounted with an impressive cast and applied opposing scrolling loop finial. This exceptional antique Victorian silver jug is fitted with a cast sterling silver scrolling handle embellished with further foliate decoration to the handpiece. The handle incorporates a lever function to the interior of the handpiece; once depressed this opens/elevates the cover. The domed circular pedestal foot is embellished with alternating chased arch decoration incorporating further floral and foliate designs on a matte background. This magnificent antique Victorian sterling silver spirit kettle has a six paneled urn shaped form onto a hexagonal paneled spreading pedestal foot. The surface to this large spirit kettle is embellished with exceptional bright cut engraved foliate festoons incorporating quatrefoil leaf motifs and suspended from rosette designs to each edge. The decoration to the body incorporates two oval cartouches, one of which remains vacant. The cartouche to the anterior surface is embellished with a contemporary bright cut engraved crest of an antelope's head couped, charged on the neck with four mullets in cross, and holding in the mouth a rose, slipped and leaved, displayed below the motto 'Nil extra numerum'- Nothing is beyond reckoning up*. This exceptional antique Victorian silver goblet, in sterling standard, has a circular bell shaped form onto a knopped stem and circular spreading foot. The body of this silver goblet is embellished with bright cut engraved foliate and floral festoons suspended from ribbon bow motifs. The upper portion of this sterling silver goblet is encompassed with bright cut engraved layered leaf decorated border. The foot is ornamented with further bright cut engraved simplified leaf decorated border, reflecting the design to the rim. Condition This antique Victorian silver goblet is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The goblet has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. The bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp. A fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver mounted, cut glass claret jug, an addition to our wine and drink related collection. This fine antique Victorian sterling silver and cut glass claret jug has a circular rounded, globular form. The cylindrical neck is fitted with a fine and impressive plain sterling silver hallmarked mount with the original hallmarked flat hinged cover. The cover is surmounted with a simplified tri-lobed silver thumb piece. This antique claret jug is fitted with a plain angular rounded handle with scrolling upper terminal and featuring a leaf ornamentation to the lower portion. The glass body of the jug is embellished with a cut glass swirl design to either side, conjoining with undulating bands to the circumference. The body of this impressive claret jug is further ornamented with a star cut base. Condition This antique sterling silver and glass claret jug is an exceptional gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent condition. The glass is in perfect condition. Full hallmarks struck to the surface and part hallmarks to the cover have wear due to their location and in keeping with age; the maker's mark to the cover and the mount are not deeply struck but remain legible. An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver claret jug, made by George Fox; an addition to our diverse wine and drinks related collection. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver claret jug has a bulbous rounded knopped form onto a circular domed foot. The swept neck and body of the jug are embellished with chased decorated scrolling strapwork bordered panels incorporating fruit and foliate designs on a matte background, intersected by bead motifs accented with trellis ornamentation. The body of this impressive claret jug is further ornamented with chased decorated stylized leaf designs to the lower portion and spiraling stylized bird designs accented with rosette motifs to the main portion. The decoration to the main portion of the body incorporates a large vacant oval cartouche to either side. Each incurved portion of the knops are ornamented with a stylized egg decorated border and floral motifs. The flared rim to the lip of the jug is embellished with a broad band of applied ribbed decoration. This impressive jug is fitted with an exceptional cast S scroll handle with a figural ornamentation to the upper portion and a tapering rope twist design to the lower portion. The lower socket features a bifurcating scrolling design with stylized leaf terminals whilst the upper curved bifurcating socket is embellished with chased leaf designs. The opposing interior side of the lip, below the upper terminal to the handle, is ornamented with a chased decorated grotesque mask. The foot is embellished with embossed decoration depicting flowing water incorporating conical shells and dolphin designs. This exceptional antique Victorian four-piece sterling silver tea and coffee service consists of a coffee pot, teapot, sugar bowl and cream jug. Each piece has a pear shaped form onto a circular spreading foot. The pieces of this Victorian tea and coffee set are embellished with embossed panels in a swirl design, accented with bright cut engraved segmented quatrefoil leaf motifs on a textured background. One side of each piece incorporates a circular cartouche displaying the engraved initial 'B'. The upper rims are encompassed with plain applied moulded borders. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver and cut glass claret jug has a circular, rounded bulbous form. The cylindrical neck of the jug is fitted with an impressive sterling silver, hallmarked mount embellished with impressive chased floral spray decoration on a matte background, all encompassed with a plain border accented with simple drop motifs. The decoration to the mount incorporates an oval vacant cartouche to either side. The underside of the plain spout features a simplified quatrefoil floral motif encompassed with a lozenge shaped border.
