Thanks to its good size, its unique handcarved design and extremely good condition this alabaster chandelier is bound to light up both your days and evenings. What makes this particular alabaster pendant stand out from those that we have seen and sold over the years are both the great colors AND the stylish and all-handcarved grape bunches and wine leafs that are going all around the shade. If you look closely then you will realize that these grapevines are not only the most deeply carved you will have ever seen, they also have been hand-carved with a technique that is called "(we cannot find the name for it yet)". Most of us are unable to handcarve anything half-decent, but the artisan whom created this work-of-art-light-fixture took it to another level alltogether. Not only did he hand-carve beautifully detailed grapevines with grape bunches and wine leafs, he also managed to carve everything around it away whilst still keeping the stunning alabaster shade perfectly round. Using this particular technique of hand-carving on a flat surface would already be very difficult and time consuming, performing it on a round surface is something only the true master carvers would have been able accomplish. Red and pink & black and white are the main colors in this, one of a kind alabaster pendant and with the light off this work of art really is a joy to own and look at. However, with the light switched on this amazing shade comes even more to life and then this chandelier creates an atmosphere that is unlike anything we have ever seen. For this unique light to still be in this amazing condition after more than 100 years is not only an ode to the craftsmanship with which this light was handmade, it also shows how former owners have taken great care. We could shoot many more photos, but you still would not be able to see the true beauty of this alabaster stone shade and you could still not get a good idea of the unique beauty and class that this chandelier radiates. In real life our antiques always have that little bit extra and this stunning pendant truly epitomizes that. You can (again) take our word for it. Have you also noticed the perfect bronze and bross suspension points? They too are in perfect condition. To us, this is the perfect antique pendant for a restaurant or winery, but it will also look perfect in a cosey entry hall or in a bedroom. Having been specialised in selling antique light fixtures for over 20 years we love to keep finding amazing fixtures that we have never seen before. This marvelously hand-crafted brass and transparent glass (all beveled) hallway pendant is another one of those rare finds off which we immediately knew we had to have it. There are so many interiors in which this antique pendant will look perfect that we have no doubt it will soon be gracing someones home again. Apart from the open design and the beautiful and durable materials this wonderful pendant light also stands out, because of the many, transparent and beveled glass panels in their perfect brass frames. Finding this rare light was a treat, but for all 36 glass 'windows' to have stood the test of 100 years time without any cracks is just amazing. The outside is a hexagonal design, but the 'base' and 'top' of this pendant are open and decorated with flowing bronze elements that make this work of lighting art even more beautiful. This classy and timeless pendant with its marvelous patina can be used and enjoyed in all sorts of rooms and interiors, but to us this is the ideal entry hall, landing or stairwell pendant...

This rare and stylish Arts and Crafts lantern is all handcrafted in the earliest years of the 1900s. What makes this sizable antique extra special is the open design with the six stylized, diamond shaped and perfectly beveled glass panels. The outside is a hexagonal design, but the 'base' and 'top' of this pendant are open and decorated with flowing bronze elements that take this wonderful work of lighting art to the next level. This classy and timeless pendant with its marvelous patina can be used and enjoyed in all sorts of rooms and interiors, but to us this is the ideal entry hall or landing or stairwell pendant...

Exceptional chandelier called “Montgolfière”.
Fully electrified, its frame is in gilded bronze composed of a central part supporting 6 gilt bronze sconces where the sockets support lovely little screw bulbs.
Its crystal collar cut in the shape of an oak leaf, symbolizing majesty, solidity and power, is set with vertical and pointed daggers in the shape of blades.
This set magnifies a cascade of octagonal crystal pendants meticulously cut by hand in diamond cut and then finished with a crown of vertical daggers.
The diamond cut will allow the luminosity of the bulbs which will pass through the pendants, to break down the spectrum of light and to restore all the colors of the rainbow.

Chandeliers — simple in form, inspired by candelabras and originally made of wood or iron — first made an appearance in early churches. For those wealthy enough to afford them for their homes in the medieval period, a chandelier's suspended lights likely exuded imminent danger, as lit candles served as the light source for fixtures of the era. Things have thankfully changed since then, and antique and vintage chandeliers and pendant lights are popular in many interiors today.
While gas lighting during the late 18th century represented an upgrade for chandeliers — and gas lamps would long inspire Danish architect and pioneering modernist lighting designer Poul Henningsen — it would eventually be replaced with the familiar electric lighting of today.
The key difference between a pendant light and a chandelier is that a pendant incorporates only a single bulb into its design. Don’t mistake this for simplicity, however. An Art Deco–styled homage to Sputnik from Murano glass artisans Giovanni Dalla Fina (note: there is more than one lighting fixture that shares its name with the iconic mid-century-era satellite — see Gino Sarfatti’s design too), with handcrafted decorative elements supported by a chrome frame, is just one stunning example of the elaborate engineering that can be incorporated into every component of a chandelier.
Chandeliers have evolved over time, but their classic elegance has remained unchanged. Not only will the right chandelier prove impressive in a given room, but it can also offer a certain sense of practicality. These fixtures can easily illuminate an entire space, while their elevated position prevents them from creating glare or straining one’s eyes. Certain materials, like glass, can complement naturally lit settings without stealing the show. Brass, on the other hand, can introduce an alluring, warm glow. While LEDs have earned a bad reputation for their perceived harsh bluish lights and a loss of brightness over their life span, the right design choices can help harness their lighting potential and create the perfect mood.
