Pair of polychrome pine wood carvings that represent two children in an attitude of playing a musical wind instrument, both seated, with their hands towards their faces, and slightly raising one leg to add some movement to a posture that, otherwise, it would be perhaps too static. Due to their postures and attitudes, they would be part of a large and quality altarpiece, judging by the size, the details, the hair, the proportions, etc., elements in which the musical angels were not something strange. Note that those present do not have wings, calling themselves in these cases "putti" and being, in the same way, figures of habitual presence in religious environments despite having emerged from Renaissance classicism and its sources from Antiquity. The proportions of the sizes, the anatomy, the symmetry, the certain plasticism of the hair, etc. are elements that speak of an influence of Neoclassicism in these sculptures. Harrap & Company. This book is part of a children’s series by Willy Pogány of folding panoramas illustrations and text, inspired by American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s 1855 epic, The Song of Hiawatha. Lines from Longfellow run underneath Pogány’s illustrations, which follow the Ojibwe child Hiawatha from his early kinship with the wild animals, through his struggles with Nahma, King of Fishes, and his own estranged father, Mudjekeewis, up to his courtship of Laughing Water (Minnehaha). The prose text by Edith Elias, printed on the verso of the panorama, carries Hiawatha’s story farther, through the death of Minnehaha and the coming of “the Pale-Face Chief.” Pogány’s dynamic frames, with their striking use of negative space, show the influence not only of Golden Age illustrators like Walter Crane, but also the new generation of cartoonists like Winsor McCay...

Pay tribute to a history of rich and diverse musical traditions that have taken shape all over the world by decorating your home with a collection of antique and vintage musical instruments — with a little help from strong hanging wire or some wall hooks, vintage brass instruments such as a gong, French horn or trumpet can help elevate a home office or complement the efforts you’ve made to ensure a welcoming vibe in your home’s entryway. Bells or antique wind instruments can add provocative metallic contrasts to dark woods as tabletop decorative objects.
