Book issued in conjunction with an exhibition held at the Alvar Aalto Museum in Jyvaskyla, Finland from Nov. 1, 200l to February 28, 2002. Published by the Alvar Aalto Museum in 2002. Covers the architectural and ambient lighting designs of Alvar and Aino Aalto for three major commissions—the Paimio Sanatorium (1933) the theatre at Jyvaskyla Workers Club (1925), and the head offices of the National Pensions Institute (1948-56)—followed by production designs distributed by Artek in the mid-century. Basically a catalogue raisonne of Aalto lighting over a 50 year period. Square 8vo (8.25” x 8.25”), pictorial wrappers, 68 pages with photos, line drawings, and catalog page reproductions in b/w and color. Text in English and Finnish. An essential and now scarce monograph.
