About the Item

Designed in 1903 by the pioneering Austrian architect and designer Adolf Loos, the B 952 F armchair represents a rare convergence of utilitarian form and refined craftsmanship. Executed in the Windsor chair tradition and manufactured by Gebrüder Thonet, this model reflects Loos’ design ethos — rooted in clarity, material honesty, and a rejection of ornament for ornament’s sake. Crafted from solid beech wood, the chairs are defined by their elegantly curved spindle backs, sculpted seats, and upright poise. This set of four has been expertly restored by a professional conservation studio, carefully preserving the original proportions, patina, and Thonet factory markings. Each chair retains its distinct architectural authority while having been structurally reinforced for everyday use. This model was used by Loos in his own Vienna apartment, the B 952 F is documented in the 1994 monograph Adolf Loos: Wohnkonzepte und Möbelentwürfe (Ottillinger, Nr. 21, p. 110) and remains an elusive and important artifact of early modern design. A rare, museum-grade set for collectors, scholars, and interiors that demand historical depth and design integrity. Suitable for refined interiors, historic architectural settings, or museum-quality installations.
