An Italian vintage gilt iron Savonarola curule armchair from the mid 20th century, with leather seat, flattened finials and X-Form base. Created in Italy during the Midcentury period, this Savonarola chair features a gilt iron structure with a shape inspired by the Curulis seat designed during Roman antiquity. The open back presents a leather band flanked with gilt iron supports topped with flattened finials. The arms are high and echo the leather band motif while the seat is resting on an X-Form base. The leather, presenting a tan color, is in good condition with slight signs of aging. The iron gilt base is made of a curving X shape, connected in its center with a conic finial and strengthened on the sides with stretchers.
