So many incredible aspects to this pair of monumentally sized 'Jennifer' lounge chairs by Michael Taylor, circa 1970s, we will attempt to list them all in this description.
First, and most noticeably, is the size. They are huge, humungous, monumental, enormous... I mean, they are incredibly large. You can easily fit two people and a dog in a single chair and have room to cuddle, snuggle, hang-out, watch a movie, have drinks in an intimate setting, or even fall asleep comfortably cradled. It's not just how wide they are but also the depth also provides a dramatic increase in overall 'lounging' footprint of the chairs. These chairs are so large, they shouldn't even be called chairs, they are somewhere between a loveseat and a daybed - perhaps they should be called lovebeds instead?
The second thing that we absolutely love about these chairs is its design history. The Jennifer chair is one of Michael's earliest designs. Thanks to the option of Dual rotation the armchair can fulfill a variety of functions and surprises the person seated with unimagined flexibility. Depending on how the two chair parts are rotated relative to one another, the armchair can be used with an armrest, a footrest or an intelligent shelf. The needs and demands of the person seated are virtually limitless. Designer Stefan Heiliger’s basic IDEA was to create a functional armchair that can be operated differently. Previous functional armchairs had a footrest that could be pulled up or an armrest that could be folded up individually. Pli can do without all this. This smart swivel armchair revolutionarily fulfills the arm- or footrest functions with the correct pivot point. The design of the dynamic seating object looks stately. This is how Pli lends a tasteful touch of extravagance to the commercial and residential settings alike.

When this iconic model was released in 1950, the unusual combination of rope, white-varnished steel and sheepskin had never been seen before in the furniture industry. It was a way for Hans Wegner to demonstrate his ability to design innovative, practical and comfortable furniture with every possible material.
Unveiled in Copenhagen in 1950 at an exhibition at the Designmuseum Danmark, the design received mixed reviews. Kaare Klint famously likened it to something from a gynaecologist’s office. But from the jump, fashion people fawned. It was splashed across magazines, models posing on its tightly wound string seat.
The Flaglinestol or Flag Halyard string-wrapped lounge chair quickly became a 21st-century icon. The story goes that in 1949 Wegner was at the beach, digging himself into the sand when he found the perfect lean-back position for seaside repose, which inspired him to make it in something more sturdy. This gave birth to this chair with its famous steel frame wrapped in rope commonly used for flagpoles. The ergonomic, spaceship-like form still looks innovative despite being over 70 years old. The bottom frame is made of a white-varnished steel structure with beechwood leg caps. The legs are splayed with the front ones connected by a stretcher, establishing the firm base for the body. The top-frame is made of chrome-plated steel that serves as the frame for the stretched halyard. Halyard rope, or flagpole rope, is traditionally used to raise and lower a flag on most external halyard flagpoles. The unusual combination of materials is continued by the cognac leather head pillow secured to the back. The chair is cosied up with sheepskin that - along with the headrest - softens the industrial shape of the steel.
This iconic Wegner model was already presented at The Arts & Crafts Spring Exhibition at Designmuseum Danmark in 1950. For several decades it was manufactured by Danish brand Getama in small quantities. In the late ’80s it went out of production altogether. PP Møbler...

Like the De Sede model DS-343, the armchair Rex is based on a patented seat study developed over the last two decades by seat expert and physical therapist Bart Van der Heyden. Rex is an armchair that moves with the movements of the person seated. Changes in posture are not just permitted but even encouraged. The armchair presents itself in a novel architecture. The seat shell does not stop at the backrest as usual but extends to pelvis height instead. This is not only a stylish design element but the elementary basis for this sitting revolution. With the extended seat shell, the person seated assumes a different posture when leaning back: if you lean backwards, only the upper part of the backrest moves backwards. Following the movements of the body, this provides gentle support to the spine and the chest opens automatically. The person seated immediately feels a more open posture, which is accompanied by a freedom of sitting.

Although there are rare armchairs dating back as far as the 17th century, some believe that the origins of the first official “lounge chair” are tied to Hungarian modernist designer-architect Marcel Breuer. Sure, Breuer wasn’t exactly reinventing the wheel when he introduced the Wassily lounge chair in 1925, but his seat was indeed revolutionary for its integration of bent tubular steel.
Officially, a lounge chair is simply defined as a “comfortable armchair,” which allows for the shape and material of the furnishings to be extremely diverse. Whether or not chaise longues make the cut for this category is a matter of frequent debate.
The Eames lounge chair, on the other hand, has come to define somewhat of a universal perception of what a lounge chair can be. Introduced in 1956, the Eames lounger (and its partner in cozy, the ottoman) quickly became staples in television shows, prestigious office buildings and sumptuous living rooms. Venerable American mid-century modern designers Charles and Ray Eames intended for it to be the peak of luxury, which they knew meant taking furniture to the next level of style and comfort. Their chair inspired many modern interpretations of the lounge — as well as numerous copies.
