About the Item

Grete Jalk (1920-2006) was a Danish architect and furniture designer known for her contributions to the mid-20th-century design movement. She studied architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, where she was exposed to the principles of modernist design, gaining recognition for her work as a furniture designer during the 1950s and 1960s. Her designs were characterized by clean lines, functionalism, and a focus on simplicity and craftsmanship. Convertible teak daybed by Grete Jalk for Poul Jeppesen, c.1960s.  The wide seat cushion can be gently pulled out creating a deeper flat sleeping surface. The rounded backrest not only provides comfort but is a hinged compartment to discreetly house all of your sleeping elements. Reupholstered in Lizzo ‘Livorno’ wool velvet.
