About the Item

Very early bright red Mezzadro stool designed by Achille Castiglioni for Zanotta. In the hands of the Castiglioni Brothers, the Mezzadro stool for Zanotta transforms a simple tractor seat into an iconic object, altering the history of design and the Made in Italy label, while giving tribute to Italy’s agricultural prowess. Made from just four simple components, the metallic spring chair is first and foremost, a clear message of freedom in defining the domestic environment. Marked underneath the base. Two available as pictured, priced individually. Wear to the chrome finish as shown in the pictures. Very common on early examples. The wooden base shows wear and stains from many years of use. The seat was powder coated in the original color recently. Overall great vintage condition.
