About the Item

1940s Hans Wegner Tall teak cabinet, front with two sliding doors and pull-out leaf. Doors with carved, fluted pattern in relief. Interior of ash with trays and adjustable shelves. Brass handles. Designed 1941. This example made 1940–50s by cabinetmaker Johannes Hansen. H. 145 cm. W. 117 cm. D. 44 cm. Model presented at The Copenhagen Cabinetmakers' 15th Guild Exhibition, at Designmuseum Danmark, 1941. This was the first Cabinetmakers' exhibition where Hans J. Wegner had designed furniture for cabinetmaker Johannes Hansen. This actual cabinet exhibited at Design Museum Denmark, March 2nd - November 2nd 2014. “Wegner - just one good chair”. Literature: Grete Jalk [ed.]: “40 Years of Danish Furniture Design”, vol. 2, p. 136–137. Another example of this model sold at recent auction for sale price USD 32,500 at Sothebys June 6, 2017 Lot 392. Can be verified by searching Sothebys Lot 392. Restoration and re-finishing included in price, although pictures may show condition prior to this.
