About the Item

An exceptional world class example of the earliest iteration of the iconic Alvar Aalto Tea Trolley . This example in original untouched condition including all parts. Retains the original finish with light honest wear and colour. Solid Birch construction including the wheels which were later painted white. Most likely the best example of this Cart in the World. Not superlative, facts. The early-production Alvar Aalto Tea Trolley 901—introduced in 1936—showcases Aalto’s signature use of bent birch wood and his commitment to warm, functional modernism. These first versions feature two birch-veneer trays supported by elegantly curved laminated-wood loops and large white-laminate wheels that give the piece its light, rolling character. Without the later rattan shelf, the early all-plywood configuration emphasizes the clarity of Aalto’s forms and the craftsmanship of Artek’s initial workshop production, making these examples particularly refined and architecturally pure.
