About the Item

An early and exceptional custom coffee table designed and built by Vladimir Kagan in his New York City workshop in the late 1940s. This is the only example of this design we have seen outside of the Vladimir Kagan book. This piece is constructed of bleached mahogany with an incredible glazed, terracotta tile top, featuring images of matadors, dancers, horseback riders and other jovial scenes. The table is incredibly sturdy and solid with a very heavy weight for its size. It would be perfect as a coffee table or under a window. It is in its original, unrestored condition, with lots of cosmetic wear--scratches, chips to the wood, loss to the grout, and some nominal chips to the edges of the tiles. One tile has a clean crack across the middle (very hard to notice unless you look for it). This wonderful artifact is ready for use as is, or can be restored to your liking.
