Frame with three miniatures. XIX century. Rectangular frame with a textile background that shows three oval miniatures with female portraits, enhanced with gilded bronze frames (the sides are finished with lacework, the central one crowned). The back has two rings at the top to hang the piece on a wall. Starting on the left and identified by small metal signs with black letters, we have “Madame Elisabeth” (Elisabeth of France [1764-1794] was the sister of Louis XVI and eldest daughter of Louis, Dauphin of France, and the Duchess Mary Josefa of Saxony), to “Marie Antoinette” (Marie Antoinette [1755-1793], archduchess of Austria and queen of France, was the daughter of Emperor Francis I and Empress Maria Theresa), and to “Madame Lebrun” (Louise-Elisabeth Vigeé LeBrun...

Framed Chinese Embroidered and Appliqued Silk Collar Qing Dynasty
Located in Atlanta, GA
A silk collar from China dated to late Qing Dynasty circa 19th century. Known as Yunjian (Cloud Shoulder or Cloud Collar), this multi-lobed textile piece was a detachable collar worn around the shoulders as part of the traditional Chinese garment accessory. With its origin dated back to the Han Dynasty and being used until the end of Qing Dynasty, the form evolves with time, but much of the ornamentation and fundamental symbolism remains the same. This striking example features a two-tiered design with eight lobes on each circle, all of which are variations of the shape of auspicious "ruyi", which represents the head of Lingzhi mushroom, a symbol of longevity. The inner lobes were made with appliqued patchwork of colorful silk. The outer lobes feature elaborate embroidery of assortment of colorful flowers, scrolling ribbons and butterfly, using mostly long and short satin stitches. The borders and outlines of the designs were lineated with metallic threads buddled in chain stitches. Small black pearls were used to link the piece together and most of them still remain. In Qing Dynasty, the silk collar with high quality was worn by noble or aristocratic women. The red color and the lotus boy symbol indicate that it was most likely part of the fashion accouterment worn during wedding ceremony. The collar is beautifully float mounted within a double conforming mat in a giltwood frame and wood backing. A stunningly presented period piece with story to tell. Reference: For a collection of Chinese embroidered collars...

Expressionist Tactile Botanical Oil on Canvas Painting Framed
Located in Oklahoma City, OK
An exquisite example of this artist's traditional take on still-life realism, and a masterpiece in its own rite. This floral painting represents the artist's awe for botanical and floral scenes as well as his or her adept knowledge of tactile painting. With broad sweeping strokes and high texture, the artist paints a portrait of a small circular Ombre deep blue vase, filled with creamy white ranunculus or buttercups with berry color centers, green eucalyptus and small accents of white hydrangea. Oil on canvas. Framed roughly in a small wood frame, with gilt painted accent inside. How we would display: A botanical painting will forever bring a certain feeling of femininity and softness to a room. This piece would be wonderful displayed in a space with too many harsh lines. Alternatively, we suggest hanging this as part of a grouping of other floral portraits on a large wall to add interest. Another favorite of ours for art is to display pieces on their own in a bedroom. Such as a guestroom or child's room. Hung just above a nightstand (we currently love the idea of using a bombe chest), and just above a table lamp, (perhaps a lamp with a Caprani...
