Exceptional pendant-brooch designed by Emil Meister.
An intricate three-dimensional vintage piece made in Zurich, Switzerland after the war, circa 1950-1960. This pendant-brooch was designed as a carnation flower, with brutalism patterns by the famous jeweler Emil Meister. Totally crafted as a one-of-a-kind, in solid yellow gold of 18 karats and palladium.
Suited at the reverse, with a pair of hinged pins with two trombone locks to be wear as a pin and a rectangular movable loop to be hanged into a chain.
The petals are decorated back and front, with brushed crisscross Florentine finish and was applied by a very talented practiced engraver.
The palladium parts are embellished, with an impeccable pave setting of 69 round brilliant cut diamonds, 2.76 carats E/F color, VS-2 clarity.

This colorful elegant brooch has been designed by the famous jeweler Paul Flato. Crafted in solid .900/.999 platinum with high polished finish and fitted at the reverse with a hinged double pins with a trombone lock for safety.
It is fully embellished with an exceptional repertoire of natural, earth mined and not treated or heated color gemstones.
Diamonds: Mount in four-prongs settings with 12 calibrated round brilliant cut diamonds, 1.26 carats, white colorless E/F color, VS-1 clarity.

Paul Edmund Flato born on September 1, 1900. He was an American jeweler, based in New York City from the 1920's to the early 1940's. Considered the first celebrity jeweler, he was well known for important jewelry, and as an early proponent of whimsical pieces. His long list of movie star clients included Greta Garbo, Mae West, Rita Hayworth, Joan Crawford, Doris Duke, Ginger Rogers, Carmen Miranda, Marlene Dietrich, Katharine Hepburn, and Gloria Vanderbilt—many of whom wore his pieces on screen. Soon after moving to New York, he opened his own upstairs jewelry shop at One East 57th Street, at the corner of 5th Avenue in Manhattan. Several years later, Tiffany & Co. opened its flagship store directly across the street. A three-dimensional wearable sculptural piece, created in 1963-65 by the famous Italian architect and sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro. It was crafted, with architectural patterns and geometrics elements in solid 18 karats of textured yellow gold, with white gold accents.
This piece is composed by two parts; the articulated collar necklace and the intricate pendant-brooch. The collar has 6 free forms elements, attached together with several pins connectors and is suited with a curved boxed push lock.
The pendant can be used alone in a chain and can be also wear as a brooch, since is suited with a vertical hinged bar and a trombone lock for extra security.
The main element is embellished with 16 natural and not treated gemstones, described as follow; thirteen French squared cuts of red Burma rubies, with a weight of 1.95 carats and three straight baguettes cuts of vivid green Colombian emeralds, with a combined weight of 1 carat.
The total weight of this piece is 70.45 grams and the necklace have an inside diameter of 17.25 inches.
The main element has a measures of 97 mm (3.82 inches) height, by 55 mm (2.17 inches) width, by 8 mm (0.31 inch) thickness.
It is sign at the verso in full by the artist and dated, "Arnaldo Pomodoro 1963-65".
Arnaldo Pomodoro, born in Morciano, Italy in 1926, is a sculptor, stage designer and architect. Between the 1950 and 1954 he worked primarily as a jeweler and stage designer with his brother Gio Pomodoro in Pesaro, Italy and began his first work in relief, which are characterized by a rough surface quality with detailed vegetal organic forms. the fine detailing of his jewelry later appeared in his bronze monumental sculptures. He have 94 years and live in Milan, Italy.
In 1953 Arnaldo and Giò, together with their fellow artist and close friend, Giorgio Perfetti (1932- 1961), formed the “3p” group and produced original jewels and small reliefs, which were first exhibited that year in Pesaro. The following year they moved to Milan and opened a small studio in a basement in Via Visconti Di Modrone. Giò Pomodoro, was an Italian sculptor, jeweler, printmaker, and stage designer. His brother is the sculptor and architect Arnaldo Pomodoro. In 1954 he moved to Milan, where he associated with leading avant-garde artists and started making jewelry. He then began to produce reverse reliefs in clay and also formed assemblages of various materials, including wood, textiles, and plaster subsequently cast in metal. During the 1960s, he developed several series of sculptures, which explored a range of abstract shapes, usually with smooth undulating surfaces.
