Mesmerized by the unique colors of the environment, she replicates it with a light green base and paints over the alpine scenery. Patricia reveals sections of the foundation and imposes multilayered hues to create a vibration of light. The snowcapped mountain range brightly glows along the pristine Lake Tahoe.
About the Artist
Pastel artist Patricia Prendergast creates impressionist artworks that depict the rivers and landscapes near her home in Sacramento, California. With each nature vignette, she captures the sense of larger natural rhythms through quick mark-making, mauve undertones, and a tranquil and serene haziness. Her work recalls the paintings from the Hudson River School such as Thomas Cole and Asher Brown Durand. Before working on her pastels at home in her studio, she spends hours studying nature on walks along the river near her home. Since becoming an artist, she says “everything is more vivid - the beauty of light and shadow in the trees, the subtlety of the color of clouds, the sparkle and reflections in water.†Her work as been exhibited in solo shows around California. She is represented by UGallery.

Frank Nelson Wilcox (October 3, 1887 – April 17, 1964) was a modernist American artist and a master of watercolor. Wilcox is described as the "Dean of Cleveland School painters," though some sources give this appellation to Henry Keller or Frederick Gottwald. Wilcox was born on October 3, 1887 to Frank Nelson Wilcox, Sr. and Jessie Fremont Snow Wilcox at 61 Linwood Street in Cleveland, Ohio. His father, a prominent lawyer, died at home in 1904 shortly before Wilcox' 17th birthday. His brother, lawyer and publisher Owen N. Wilcox, was president of the Gates Legal Publishing Company or The Gates Press. His sister Ruth Wilcox was a respected librarian.

This artwork titled "Pond #4" 1984 is an original soft pastel on paper by Swiss/American artist Ursula Schneider, b.1943. It is unsigned. The artwork size is 15 x 22 inches, framed size is 17.25 x 24.5 inches. Custom framed in a black metal frame. It is in excellent condition.
About the artist:
The work of Ursula Schneider include pastel drawings, paintings, small-scale sculptural paintings and woodcuts, working on one medium at a time. These processes complement and enrich each other by stimulating a fresh approach and allowing for experimentation. Drawing from observation in the landscape has been the basis for the work.
She attended Kunstgewerbeschule in Zurich and Keramische Fachschule in Bern and holds an Undergraduate Degree in Ceramics from Switzerland.
In 1968 she moved to the United States and graduated in 1972 with an MFA in Painting from the San Francisco Art Institute.
She lived and worked in New York from 1980-2004 and taught painting at the San Francisco Art Institute, Cooper Union and Sarah Lawrence College.
