In 1966, when Cutrone was still in high school, he started hanging out at The Factory. He was introduced to many members of Warhol’s circle by living in the back of the Velvet Underground’s apartment on 3rd Street in the West Village. While he lived there and when he was first visiting The Factory in 1966, Cutrone was a dancer on the Exploding Plastic Inevitable. In 1968, Cutrone left The Factory and Warhol to pursue his own painting. He returned four years later, this time to work on his photography. Upon his return, while working on his own photo project, Cutrone was offered a job at Interview magazine, which had been founded by Warhol in 1968. The original photo is in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Museum. Graham said about this photo, "This is a photo I took of my mother Mary when I was 11, in 1953. She was 33. It was the first image I took where I realized that it's possible that I see differently than most people. Normally my mother would be making the bed, or cooking breakfast — mother stuff. I'd never seen my mother in this contemplative mood. I'd never seen her either looking into her future or wondering if her life had been what she wanted or thinking about her past. I don't know. I only know that that's an incredible moment in my mother's existence."

There’s a lot to love about black and white photography.
The unique and timeless quality of a black and white photograph accentuates any room. Some might argue that we’re naturally drawn to color photography because it’s the world we know best.
