Shepard Fairey "Sub-Standard" Silkscreen Print Street Contemporary Art Dove
Located in Draper, UT
"This print is a comment on the relationship between corporate greed, fossil fuels, and the warming of the planet and collapsing ecosystems. Standard operating, pushed by players like Standard Oil and its many offshoots, should be redefined as sub-standard. If we want to maintain the standard of health our planet needs to avoid catastrophe, we can't allow big oil to put profits before the planet and profits before people (as well as many other threatened species). Keep in mind that big oil, which is already very profitable, is subsidized by you, the taxpayer, for up to $50 billion per year. In contrast, renewable energy sources are subsidized for only a quarter of that amount. We need to push for change." -Shepard Fairey A portion of proceeds from this print went to Greenpeace USA. Materials: Fine Art Paper with Gold Metallic Inks Size: 24 × 12 in 61 × 30.5 cm Rarity: Limited edition Medium: Print Condition: Print is in pristine condition and has been stored flat since purchase. Mod Rooster Drawing 1970s Pop Art Lithograph Hand Signed
Located in Surfside, FL
This listing is for just the one print in the photo here. there are three states of the same image image each with Progressively increasing detail and color. the edition size is 175. Hand signed, numbered and dated. on hand made French Arches paper. Bob (Robert) Stanley (1932-1997) was a painter, photographer and printmaker whose early work was figurative painting about contemporary American life. In the 1960s and early 1970s, he based his paintings on photographs, which he manipulated from black and white or silkscreen colored shapes. In the early 1960's, he began to base his paintings on images clipped from newspapers and magazines, following the example of Pop artists like Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, who would become his brother-in-law. Enlarged and often simplified to two vibrant saturated colors Stanley's images could be reduced to the abstract or be powerfully explicit. His preferred subjects, including rock stars, athletes and pornography, always seemed to grate against the pretenses of high art. Similar in bold use of color to Malcolm Morley. In the late 1960's Mr. Stanley started using his own photographs, basing paintings on images of tree branches or the ground, and also using pictures of life-drawing models at the School of Visual Arts. MY HOUSE II
Located in Aventura, FL
7 Color Silkscreen on 335 GSM Matt Custom Paper. Hand signed, dated and numbered by the artist. Numbered 14/100 (there are also 10 artist's proofs). Published by Counter Editions, London. Printed by Brand X Editions, New York. Artwork size 40 x 30 inches. Custom framed as pictured. Frame size approx 46 x 36 inches. Artwork is in excellent condition. All reasonable offers will be considered. About the Artist: Christopher Wool is a contemporary American painter. In his paintings, Wool contrasts bold stenciled text or abstract brushwork with white backgrounds. In the stenciled works, words run together and breaks arrive at the edges of the canvas, as seen in his Apocalypse Now (1988), which bears the phrase “SELL THE HOUSE SELL THE CAR SELL THE KIDS.” “With the painting the inspiration comes from the process of the work itself,” Wool reflected. “Like music [making the work] is an emotional experience. It’s a visual language and it’s almost impossible to put words to it.” Born on September 16, 1955 in Boston, MA, Wool studied briefly at Sarah Lawrence College, but quickly left to enroll at the New York Studio School. A contemporary of Jean-Michel Basquiat, Julian Schnabel, Cindy Sherman, and others in New York’s downtown art scene in the 1980s, Wool introduced graffiti techniques to his work, later incorporating silkscreens and paint rollers. The artist’s work has been exhibited at numerous institutions around the world, including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, the Gesellschaft für Moderne Kunst am Museum Ludwig in Cologne, and the Guggenheim Museum in New York. Wool currently lives and works between Marfa, TX and New York, NY with his wife the painter Charline von Heyl.

Authentic Screen Prints and Multiples for Sale on 1stDibs

Original screen prints and other types of fine art prints can help enhance any room in your home while supporting your effort to tie an interior design together.

A screen print, also known as a silkscreen or serigraph, is made by cutting out pieces of paper (or textile) and placing them on a mesh sheath, or screen. With the help of a squeegee during the screen printing process, ink is forced through the uncovered areas of the mesh onto a sheet of paper. Each color must be screened separately.

Originally used in the commercial printing industry for advertising and packaging, screen printing is closely associated with the Pop aesthetic. Andy Warhol was the first artist to use the process to create art, and his silkscreens and other prints rank among the highest priced prints on the market.

For legendary Abstract Expressionist artist Jackson Pollock, printing was crucial to the evolution of his abstraction. It was several years after he printed wild constellations of blobs and squiggles, using a small printing screen that he acquired during a brief stint at a silkscreen workshop, that he began splattering canvases with similar abstract imagery.

For Jasper Johns, recognized as one of the most innovative, masterful print artists of all time, printmaking was ideal for exploring the ideas of repetition, seriality, patterning, semiotics, order and symbolism that intrigued him. His crosshatch prints (and paintings, for that matter) are a wonderful reference to the engraving process but also a brilliant conceptual update of Abstract Expressionist brushstroke, which Johns subverted again and again.

Remember, when it comes to arranging your screen prints and other wall art, hanging isn’t the only way to display your artworks. You can stand framed pieces and stretched canvases on an easel, a mantelpiece, floating shelves or on the floor leaning against a wall. This creates a casual look and also allows you to change your arrangements more easily and without damaging the wall.
