Bitossi Ceramic and Mosaic Bowl Vide Poche Centerpiece, circa 1960

About the Item

Designed by the legendary Aldo Londi, this extraordinary ceramic centerpiece, also known as a cigar ashtray, is a rare masterpiece of Italian craftsmanship. Created by Bitossi circa 1960 and imported to the United States by Raymor of New York, this striking piece showcases a large-scale, rounded vide poche (catchall) adorned with a luminous off-white glaze. The focal point is its mesmerizing fused-glass mosaic design, known as "fritte," which radiates vibrant, multicolored elegance. Marked on the underside with a Raymor paper label, along with a stamped "Italy" in bold block letters and the number 472 under the glaze, this exceptional work of art is both a collector's treasure and a testament to timeless design. Dimensions: 11.63 in by 11.63 in wide (29.5 cm) by 3.13 in high (8 cm).
