About the Item

Pair of lamps with a cylindrical base formed by a succession of black marble disks veined with white, from which rises a chrome-plated shaft supporting a white lacquered metal cap with two lights, which supports the large, slightly flared round lampshade. Original shade in off-white cotton, dark beige interior. The height of the shade is adjustable, thanks to a ring ending in a knob fixed above the shade, and sliding on the chrome-plated steel shaft. Overall height: 78 cm (30.7 inches) Lamp base height: 30 cm (11.8 inches) Lampshade diameter: 44.5 cm (17.5 inches) Lamp base diameter: 12 cm (4.72 inches) Biography: Florence Knoll, United States (1917-2019) Florence Knoll Bassett (born Florence Marguerite Schust in Saginaw, Michigan in 1917 and died in Coral Gables in 2019) was an American architect and designer. Since its founding, Knoll has always been looking for design modernization.Knoll International has been one of the leading design companies for over 70 years. Hans and Florence Knoll developed one of the most creative and prolific companies of the post-war era.The couple imposes their vision of development thanks to the Planning Unit, combining interior architecture, design, production, textiles and graphics.Together, they took Knoll internationally by collaborating with designers like Eero Saarinen, Harry Bertoia, Jens Risom and Isamu Noguchi.
