About the Item

Set of six chairs model "MR10" designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and produced by Thonet in the 1960s. La his frame is made of chrome-plated tubular steel, the seats are made of rattan or called Vienna straw. As seen in the photos three seats are in need of restoration. They are original and have the label under the seat. Designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, they are manufactured by Thonet- The MR10 is one of the most iconic design chairs of all time, first designed in 1927 and exhibited at the Die Wohnung exhibition in Stuttgart. The public was amazed by it for two reasons: its use of chrome-plated tubular steel and its light weight, all supported only by the front legs. The steel finish contrasts with the straw seat and back, creating a chair with essential lines. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (1886-1969) was a German architect naturalized in the United States. His rectilinear forms, executed with elegant simplicity, made him one of the most important and influential architects of the 20th century. Size: 75x48x81 cm - Seat height: 44 cm
