About the Item

This authentic Cassina LC4 lounge chair was produced in 1994 and features a classic black leather upholstery and headrest on a tubular steel frame with a polished chrome finish and a black lacquered steel base. The LC4 lounge chair is a Bauhaus classic and is part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Each piece is signed, numbered, and manufactured by Cassina under exclusive worldwide license from the Fondation Le Corbusier. The chrome frame bears the imprint "LC4 41560" and the steel base bears the imprint "Cassina." Made in Italy. LC4 Chaise Longue The iconic and timeless LC4 chaise longue was created by Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand, and Pierre Jeanneret in 1928 and exhibited at the Paris Salon d'Automne in 1929. Based on Le Corbusier's analysis of chaise longues and the proportions deduced in the Modulor, the chaise longue embodies the relationship between form and function, balancing purity of design with the comfort of the seat's shape, which follows the natural contours of the body. Le Corbusier believed that furniture should be "an extension of our limbs and adapted to human functions." Designed to replicate the natural curves of the human body at rest, the movable "floating" structure of this iconic chair adjusts along the base, following your every move, from upright sitting to fully reclining. Nicknamed the "relaxation machine," the LC4 balances form and function with magnificent precision. CONDITION Excellent vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use.
