Vintage Herman Miller Eames Soft Pad Reclining Lounge Chair

About the Item

The Eames Soft Pad Lounge Chair was a marriage of two pillar designs in the Eames catalogue. One one side, you had the commercial-oriented Aluminum Group Series and then you had the residential Eames 670 and 671 (aka Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman). But when the comfort of the 670 with the framework of the Aluminum Group Series was combined, the Soft Pad Group was born. In the Soft Pad Group you get four back cushions, a reclining mechanism, and a comfortable lounge chair that incorporates leather and aluminum beautifully. This example was executed in the late 80s and features a slate-colored aluminum frame. The leather has a beautiful patina to it. The type of wear where it is black leather with brown peeking out from under it. Beautiful vintage example.
