Hans J. Wegner For Getama GE-259 Adjustable Oak Daybed

About the Item

Designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1954, the GE-259 daybed is a versatile piece of furniture lending itself to both style and function. Not only easily used as a sofa in a living space to provide comfortable seating, this daybed also adjusts by lifting the upholstered backrest to convert into a roomy bed. Ideal for a smaller studio apartment where space is limited to accommodate both seating and sleeping or to provide an attractive place for overnight guests, more aesthetically pleasing and comfortable than the contemporary pull-out sofa or inflatable mattress. Crafted in solid, sturdy blonde oak wood, this sofa has been hand built at GETAMA’s factory in Gedsted, Denmark by skilled cabinetmakers using traditional Scandinavian techniques. Rounded, tapered legs support a box-form seating bench with squared shelter arms, creating a cozy nook for relaxing. On par with Wegner's status as one of the leading figure's of Danish modern design, this daybed is ideal for every function it boasts and is rife with handsome details, pleasing to the eye.
