$9,157.32

About

Important oil painting on cardboard coming from a collection of 19th century works. painting by E. Gignous, an artist of great importance, who entered the history of art among the great 19th century Lombard painters. Biographical note: Gignous (Zignù) Eugenio (Milan 1850 / Stresa 1906) Born from a family of Savoy origin, Gignous followed the courses in landscape painting as a pupil of Luigi Riccardi at the Accademia di Brera until 1870, when he received a prize with the "Cortile rustico alla Colombana". he turned to an observation of the true clear and penetrating, then striving to make the effect of atmosphere, environment and architecture with a more concise vision. In the Cremonese painting for landscape painting he was considered one of the most faithful transposers. And already in his early work reveals a sensitivity that allows him to adhere to the contact with nature with a truly trembling attachment. In his landscapes, due to a certain tradition of Lombard chiaroscuro, it seems that the surfaces of the paintings are quilted by a sort of veil. Moving to live in the Gignesi valleys, near Stresa, the artist was tireless in the production of works in which he posed emphasizing all the possible research for the innumerable shades of the greens that surrounded him; and for this fact, someone said that the painter, feeling near the end and looking from his window towards the green grassy slopes, the undergrowth of the undergrowth or the successive vegetations of his garden, said: "O greens, you have finished make me suffer! ". Among his many works we mention: "Primavera", "Sul Mottarone", both currently on display in the Gallery of Modern Art in Milan and, "La quiete", (Rome, Gallery of Modern Art). The work proposed by us for the sale of a glimpse of the country with characters perfectly expresses the high pictorial quality achieved by the artist. Note that the use of gray in a delicate and non-aggressive way can represent a sad rainy day in a poetic and delicate way. 19th century artist appreciated in many Italian museums as an excellent investment Sold with a frame in Coeval gold leaf. Certificate of authenticity dimensions with frame 63 x 53 without frame 41 x 31.
