An exceptional and very rare jabot type brooch, created in England during the Victorian era, back in the 1880. This piece is fantastic and has been crafted with renaissance revival patterns in the shape of a miniature sword with jewels, in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with accents in carved platinum. The sword is well proportionate and made with gorgeous details. It is completely decorated with twisted woven wires, engravings and chiseled designs. The sword sheath, the grip pommel and the rain-guard are embellished with a fantastic assortment of eleven natural earth mined gemstones; such white colorless diamonds and vivid green demantoids garnets. It is fitted with a sheath to slide the blade very tight, which is attached to a decorative security chain. This magnificent piece should be an important addition to any serious jewelry collection and will be a great conversation piece when you display it with your dress or on the lapel of your jacket.
Demantoids
Demantoid is the green gemstone variety of the mineral andradite, a member of the garnet group of minerals. Andradite is a calcium- and iron-rich garnet. Ferric iron is the cause of the green in the stone. Although garnets have been known since ancient times, the demantoid variety was not discovered until 1868 in Russia's western central Ural Mountains. The find was an alluvial deposit about 110 km from Ekaterinburg, north by northwest along the Bobrovka River, near the village of Elizavetinskoye. Miners were immediately stunned by the highly refractive nature of the gem material, which is atypical for garnet. They began comparing it to diamond and referred to it as "demantoid", from the old German Demant, meaning diamond. The reason is obvious, with its high brilliance and dispersion. However, as demantoid garnets are quite rare and found in so few locations, they can command quite high prices, especially if they have a particularly lovely horsetail inclusion. Aletto Brothers is a world-renowned master of the sophisticated and meticulous technique of invisible setting, the Aletto family of jewelers is constantly pushing the boundaries to create impeccably-crafted and extremely personal works of wearable art. They passed their knowledge and refined their skills over five generations, the Aletto Brothers name stands for excellent craftsmanship and quality. Still family owned and operated, the firm is currently based in Boca Raton, Florida, but was originally started in Naples, Italy, by Bartolomeo Aletto an Italian goldsmith. His first major commission was to create a special piece of jewellery to celebrate the inauguration of the Eiffel Tower at the 1889 Exposition Universelle in Paris. In 1962, Alberto Aletto who was the third generation, moved the company to America, opening his business in New York. It is his son Alfredo who is leading the firm today with the support of his sons Alberto, Luigio and Mario. Excelling in complicated techniques, such as invisible-setting, the Aletto Brothers continue to create highly sought after, beautiful pieces of jewellery.

Since the early 1970s, this mine was a major producer of turquoise. Artisans and jewelry companies love Sleeping Beauty Turquoise for its lack of matrix and reliable even color. This mine is still active and currently produces copper. The Sleeping Beauty turquoise mine was named after the mountain range where it is located, which from a distance is said to resemble a sleeping woman with her arms crossed. The dominant part is the figure of the sacred scarab with the feathers of the god Khepri flanked by two minor scarabs and two lotus flower symbols. This magnifique piece has been carefully crafted in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with high polished finish and accented with applications of enamel, fitted with a lobster security lock.
Khepri, is the god of sunrise connected to the scarab beetle. Young dung beetles, having been laid as eggs within the dung ball, emerge from it fully formed and thus were considered to have been created from nothingness. Egyptians believed that each day the sun was also reborn or created from nothing. In the same way that the beetle pushes large balls of dung along the ground, Khepri moved the newly-born sun across the sky. Khepri was a solar deity and thus connected to the rising sun and the mythical creation of the world. The god and the scarab beetle represent creation and rebirth.
Scarab originated in Ancient Egypt. A scarab is shaped like a dung beetle. There is a head, wing case, and legs. It is sometimes rounded and sometimes flat. The scarab was associated with the god Khepri who was the god or rebirth, creation, and the sun. Dung beetles were the earthly personification of Khepri as they would lay their eggs in balls of dung and then roll the dung balls all around until the eggs hatched. Early hieroglyphics depict Khepri as a scarab holding up the sun. There were hundreds of memorial scarabs created to memorialize Amenhotep III’s deeds. These included the bull hunt scarab which symbolizes strength and victory over chaos. Later, around 2000 BCE the scarab was used in jewelry and as seals. The amulets were worn as protection against the dangers of this world and the afterlife. The scarab represented the sun god Ra that rolled across the sky each day.
