This stunning, fine and impressive Regency era cabochon cut jewelry set has been crafted in 8k and 9k yellow gold.
The jewellery set is composed of drop earrings and a necklace with a removable cross pendant.
The twenty-four 8k yellow gold links that make up the necklace are each set with a bezel set cabochon cut garnet.
The detachable cross pendant is ornamented with a further four cabochon cut garnets and single bezel set 1.12Ct Old European round cut diamond.
The 9k yellow gold drop style earrings each display a bezel set oval cabochon cut garnet, and are each accented with a single Old European round cut diamond.
The earrings secure with a French wire style fastenings, to the upper border of a bead decorated shaped frame.
The jewelry set is fitted to the original red leatherette, blue and white sating and velvet lined retailers presentation case.

This handsome necklace is perfectly Art Nouveau in design. The necklace features a substantial gold trace link chain, which is fastened with a sturdy box clasp. The chain is adorned with a slider, which the chain is get through, allowing one to tighten and loosen the necklace, so the wearer to place the slider wherever is most opportune. The slider is ornamented with a beautiful 5-petalled flower, which is decorated with graduating pink and yellow enamel, and set with a seed pearl to the centre. From the terminals of the chain, a pair of ‘dog tooth’ pearls are suspended, named as such for their irregular and elongated shape, and a favourite of the early 20th Century. This antique Victorian 15K gold demi-parure comprising pendant earrings and pendant brooch with chain is set with over 10.00 carats of cabochon almandine garnets. The elongated pendant earrings are designed as scrolling leaf motif tops, each with an oval cabochon garnet, flexibly suspending a reverse-tapering drop of floral and foliate form set with pear-shape and oval cabochon garnets, en suite with a conforming pendant brooch and delicate rectangular trace link chain. Still stylish today, the lightly voluminous, repoussé forms have an easy, gentle sway, while their soft bloomed gold and saturated red garnets enliven the eyes and face.

Queen Victoria, whom the artistic record shows owned a substantially similar demi-paure, was deeply interested in couture and jewelry. Often, she chose to wear jewelry by British makers, in many cases work that was historically inspired and/or sentimental, knowing that her choices were closely observed by the public. These jewels were often relatively modest in value, and accessible to aspiring women of the British middle class.
Blood-red cabochon-cut gems have been known throughout history as "carbuncles", and their use in gold jewelry was highly popular in the sentimental, symbolism-loving Victorian period in England. In the 19th century, the new study of of archaeology had revealed that the garnet was a favorite precious stone of the Hellenistic Greeks, who centered carbuncles in wedding jewelry such as gold bracelets and garment appliqués fashioned...
