Founded in Paris, France in 1847 by Louis-François Cartier, the company remained under family control until 1964. The company maintains its headquarters in Paris and is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Compagnie Financière Richemont SA. Cartier is well known for its jewellery and wrist watches, including the "Bestiary" (best illustrated by the Panthère brooch of the 1940s created for Wallis Simpson), the diamond necklace created for Bhupinder Singh the Maharaja of Patiala and the first practical wristwatch, the "Santos," of 1904. Cartier has a long history of sales to royalty and celebrities. King Edward VII of England referred to Cartier as "the jeweller of kings and the king of jewellers." For his coronation in 1902, Edward VII ordered 27 tiaras and issued a royal warrant to Cartier in 1904. Similar warrants soon followed from the courts of Spain, Portugal, Russia, Siam, Greece, Serbia, Belgium, Romania, Egypt, Albania, Monaco, and the House of Orleans. The Cartier tradition of clock and watch making extends almost as far back as the founding of the company. In 1898, Louis Cartier, one of the three Cartier brothers and grandson of founder Louis-François, moved to 13 rue de La Paix with his father, Alfred. Louis was a talented creator of jewels and art objects, and confirmed his talent by tying his craft with clock making traditions, lost now for more than a century. Thereafter, Cartier's clocks, table clocks, and watches were manufactured with an emphasis on perfection, beauty and originality. Clock making, at first a secondary activity, became the predominant activity and prestige of Cartier.

About Fibulas: Moroccan fibulae, also known as Moroccan brooches or fibules, are traditional jewelry pieces that have been used in Morocco for centuries. These fibulae are typically made of silver or silver alloy and feature intricate designs and embellishments. They are often associated with Berber and Moroccan Amazigh culture. Moroccan fibulae vary in size, shape, and design, but they generally consist of a pin and a decorative plate or head. The pin is inserted through the fabric of a garment, and the plate rests on the surface, securing the fabric in place. The decorative plate of the fibula is where the artistic and cultural elements shine. The designs of Moroccan fibulae are often influenced by Berber symbolism and motifs, reflecting the cultural heritage of the region. Common motifs include geometric patterns, interlacing shapes, and stylized symbols representing fertility, protection, or tribal affiliation. The fibulae can also feature engraved patterns, filigree work, or inlaid gemstones, adding to their aesthetic appeal. Moroccan fibulae are primarily worn by women as part of traditional attire for special occasions, festivals, or weddings. They are typically fastened to the front of a dress or a cape-like garment called a haik. The fibulae not only serve a functional purpose of securing the garment but also add a touch of beauty and cultural significance to the overall attire. Today, Moroccan fibulae continue to be valued for their craftsmanship and cultural importance. They are sought-after collector's items and can be found in museums, antique shops, and traditional jewelry stores in Morocco and around the world.
