Herbert Fell Sharp was a British comic artist/illustrator born in London, United Kingdom in the district of Islington, son of Charles Sharp and Catherine née Fell. He immigrated to United States by 1910 married Ruth Sheriff in 1916 in Westchester, New York.
He lived at 31 Poplar Street, Brooklyn and served as a former president to the New Rochelle Art Association in Westchester County, New York, an organization that included J.C. Leyendecker as a prominent member during the 1950's. Sources suggest that Fell Sharp began his career as a comic artist, composing illustrations for the Amalgamated Press comics circa 1900 and "The Jester and Wonder" in 1905.
Mr. Sharp possesses an artistic technique that is easy to identify and yet unique. The people featured in his artwork show details of pointed noises. Sharp's career, like his contemporaries, explored a diversity of avenues in which to market his craft. For example, he sketched artwork that consisted of war themes. As you will see, his art signatures feature his middle name on most prints, but sometimes may include middle and last names together coupled with the year of its completion.

Villa Foscari is a patrician villa in Mira, near Venice, northern Italy, designed by the Italian Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio. It is also known as La Malcontenta ("The Discontented"), a nickname which - according to a legend - it received when the spouse of one of the Foscaris was locked up in the house because she allegedly did not live up to her conjugal duty.
Karl Hagedorn was a painter and illustrator. He was educated in Berlin, and at the Manchester School of Technology, Manchester School of Art, and Slade School of Fine Art (where he later taught), before training in Paris under Maurice Denis. Hagedorn showed regularly at the Society of Modern Painters in Manchester, and then (from 1913 onwards), at the Royal Academy and the New English Art Club. This pastel study is of course not signed, as the label on the back of the frame gives its attribution to Guirand de Scévola and, equally interestingly, the date 1928, but in fact the artist's style and execution are immediately recognisable without the need for a signature.
This type of woman with a bun is typical of the models the artist loved. Her mysterious air recalls his Symbolist period, and pastel is hisr preferred medium because it lends itself to all the characteristics typical of his art.

Honora Berg (American, 1897-1985) was an Abstract Expressionist and Bay Area Figurative School artist who studied at the San Francisco Art Institute with David Park, Elmer Bischoff and James Budd Dixon. Berg's friend Edith Truesdell — David Park's aunt — suggested a move to California in 1951 to study under Park. She exhibited at the 25th Annual Drawing, Print and Sculpture Exhibition at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, 1961.
