About the Artist: Juliette Steele, an American artist, was an accomplished printmaker, painter and teacher. Steele was part of the Geometric Abstraction and Abstract Expressionism movements. Her peers included Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Hans Hofmann, Willem de Kooning, Franz Kline, and Clyfford Still.
Steele was born in 1909 in Union City, New Jersey. In the late 1920s, she moved to New York to study art and fashion design at the Traphagen School of Design. A decade later, she moved to San Francisco with husband Edward Steele, and earned a Bachelor of Art degree from San Francisco State College.
In the 1940s, Steele found inspiration from the new city, and produced a series of lithographs depicting San Francisco landmarks. At the same time, she earned a Master of Fine Arts from Stanford University, and continued her studies at the California School of Fine Arts in San Francisco. Biography:
Enrique Climent ( Valencia , Spain, 1897- Mexico City , 1980) was a Spanish painter and graphic designer, present in the Spanish Pavilion of the International Exhibition of Paris in 1937 , two of whose works are conserved in the National Museum Art Center Reina Sofía , as part of the collection of the Spanish Museum of Contemporary Art (MEAC). Exiled in Mexico , country in which he died at 83 years of age. He has been associated with the driving group in Spain of the "New Art".
Born in a bourgeois family of the Valencian capital, despite paternal opposition, Climent studied at the School of Fine Arts of San Carlos , and with a scholarship received in 1919, traveled to Madrid to complete them in San Fernando . In the capital of Spain he participated in the gathering of Ramón Gómez de la Serna , for whom he illustrated some greguerías , and in the avant-garde activities of the then-called first Escuela de Vallecas , Associated with the Society of Iberian Artists . He also collaborated as an illustrator of Blanco y Negro magazine, 3 and illustrated books by Elena Fortún , Azorín , Juan Manuel Díaz Caneja and Manuel Abril . 3 Before, in 1924 he had been in Paris for two years, where he came to design some stage sets for opera shows. 6
He participated in three of the exhibitions of "Los Ibéricos" (San Sebastián in 1931, Copenhagen in 1932 and Berlin in 1933), as well as in the International Exhibitions of Contemporary Spanish Art in Paris and Venice in 1936.
He was one of the Spanish exiles who in 1939 landed in Veracruz , after the crossing of the Sinaia , along with other intellectuals and artists (such as José Moreno Villa , Arturo Souto...

Ronald Ron Davis (born 1937) is an American painter whose work is associated with geometric abstraction, abstract illusionism, lyrical abstraction, hard-edge painting, shaped canvas painting, color field painting, and 3D computer graphics. He is a veteran of nearly seventy solo exhibitions and hundreds of group exhibitions.
Born in Santa Monica, California, he was raised in Cheyenne, Wyoming. In 1955–56 he attended the University of Wyoming. In 1959 at the age of 22 he became interested in painting. In 1960–64 he attended the San Francisco Art Institute. Abstract expressionism, the prevailing artistic movement of the time, would have an influence on many of his future works. In 1962 he was a Yale-Norfolk Summer School Grantee. In 1963 his paintings became hard-edged, geometric and optical in style, and by 1964 his works were shown in important museums and galleries. He lived and worked in Los Angeles, 1965–71, and in Malibu, California, 1972–90. Since 1991 he has lived and worked in Arroyo Hondo on the outskirts of Taos, New Mexico.
Ronald Davis from the earliest days of his career had a significant impact on contemporary abstract painting of the mid-1960s. According to art critic Michael Fried: Ron Davis is a young California artist whose new paintings, recently shown at the Tibor de Nagy Gallery in New York, are among the most significant produced anywhere during the past few years, and place him, along with Frank Stella and Walter Darby Bannard, at the forefront of his generation.
He had his first one-person exhibition at the Nicholas Wilder Gallery in Los Angeles in 1965.
Barbara Rose wrote an in depth essay about Davis' paintings of the 1960s in the catalogue accompanying an exhibition of his Dodecagon Series in 1989 in Los Angeles. Among other observations she wrote:
Davis saw a way to use Marcel Duchamp's perspective studies and transparent plane in The Large Glass for pictorial purposes. Instead of glass, he used fiberglass to create a surface that was equally transparent and detached from any illusion of reality. Because his colored pigments are mixed into a fluid resin and harden quickly, multiple layers of color may be applied without becoming muddy. his is essentially an inversion of Old Master layering and glazing except that color is applied behind rather than on top of the surface. Alone among his contemporaries, Davis was equally concerned with traditional problems of painting: space, scale, detail, color relationships and illusions as he was with the California emphasis on hi-tech craft and industrial materials. This superb sixties large British abstract oil painting is by noted female artist Anne Dunn. Painted in 1966 it is an abstract composition in a palette of brown orange and blacks on white showing British St Ives School influences of Terry Frost and British Abstraction. An interesting sixties vibrant abstract and an excellent example of Dunn's work.

Anne Dunn (born 4 September 1929) is an English artist associated with the second generation of the School of London. Born in London, England, Dunn is the daughter of the Canadian steel magnate Sir James Dunn, 1st baronet (1874–1956) and his second wife, Irene Clarice Richards, a former musical-comedy actress who had previous been married to Francis Douglas, 11th Marquess of Queensberry. Dunn studied in London at Chelsea School of Art (1949–50) and at the Anglo-French Centre (1952) under Henry Moore and guest artist Fernand Léger before going to the Académie Julian in Paris, France in 1952. Dunn's art has been exhibited in Europe and North America and can be seen at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery in Fredericton, New Brunswick, the Arts Council Collection in London, and many private collections. Two drawings and two paintings are in the Government Art Collection: U.K. Department for Culture, Media and Sport. Her first solo show was at the Leicester Galleries of London in 1957, with subsequent shows there in 1959, 1960, 1962, and 1964. Thereafter her major exhibitions took place in New York with shows at the Fischbach Gallery in 1967, 1969, 1972, 1975, 1977, 1979, 1982, 1985, 1987, and 1989. In 1990 Dunn had a solo show at the Christopher Hull Gallery in London. Her most recent solo show was in 2005 at the Tibor de Nagy Gallery in New York.
