A time traverse mechanism with antecedents in mythological Atlantis. Legend speaks of a Minoan connection to Atlantis. The time machine's fictional narrative builds upon the latest in archeological finds and a growing body of circumstantial evidence hinting of an advanced society lost to history. Perchance, dare say, one which developed methods defying the very forward arrow of the space time continuum. The Atlantian Continuum narrative tells of it originally being buried in volcanic ash (thereby preserved) after a catastrophic event altered the earth's magnetic polarity. A broken piece of Minoan-Atlantian continental land mass drifted thousands of miles south (based upon recent real-life scholarly posits), further protecting the device in the permafrost of the Antarctic. Metrics of time manipulation employed are aligned with many of Einstein‘s theories including Relativity, Light Quanta, entanglement, curvature of space and infinite time loops. The sculpture portends an original scientific perspective replete with esoteric symbols, equations, formulai and multi-dimensional geometry, all portending a series of radical posits. Sylvia Schwartz In her structures, silicone molds are cast from both natural and hand-made forms, including clay coils, volcanic rock patterns, seaweed, and the artist’s own fingerprints. Leaving the human trace evident through the repetition of shapes and textures in both the natural and man-made elements, provides a measure of stability, a reference point. These manmade and natural forms merge, revealing our inexplicable dependence on nature. Through this melding of two entities, new life is breathed into the art object. Paper as a primary medium allows Schwartz to sculpt, draw and paint simultaneously. The flow of the pulp (a natural phenomenon in itself) meshes with the molded forms creating a structure that seems to rest on the edge between painting and sculpture. The size of the subject is 12.75 x 15 inches, over all size is 15 x 22 inches. It is in excellent condition. About the artist: Lucia Waiser Palombo was born in Santiago on September 30, 1940. She studied Design at the Art School of the University of Chile, from which he graduated in 1966. Later he moved to the United States to study drawing at Foothill College in California. In 1976 he traveled to England where he completed a Master in Art Theory and History at the University of Sussex. The following year he studied lithography at the Brighton Polytechnic Institute. In 1980 he returned to the United States and entered Stanford University to study sculpture with Richad Randell. In 1984, he completed his artistic apprenticeship at the University of Berkeley, California, conducting a paper workshop dictated by Joan Rhine. Erté, considered by many as the “Father of Art Deco,” often acknowledged that his love for the theater was a great source of creativity and inspiration. He conveyed in his art a drama with which he lived his life – a dream that came from the very innermost expression of his soul. Just like theater has two faces - comedy and tragedy - Erté was a brilliant showman, as well as a quiet man who sometimes would prefer to be left alone. From a young age, he was immersed in the world of opera, ballet, and theater. When he designed costumes and sets for theatrical productions, it was a lifelong desire that he was fulfilling. “Broadway’s in Fashion” is a fitting tribute to the legendary Broadway from a man who pursued the theatrical in everything he did. In 1978, Erté was honored by the Eugene O’Neill Foundation at a gala celebration in New York entitled “Broadway’s in Fashion” for which Erté designed the poster. This led to a CBS-TV film on Erté narrated by the legendary Diana Vreeland, and an exhibition of his costume designs at the Boston Center of the Arts. This sculpture, in scarlet and black, with white gold embellishments, incorporates the elements for which Broadway is best known. Her elegant and confident posture reveals her costume, which is itself an homage to Broadway – the scarlet robe with gold tassels evokes the stage curtain as it rises to reveal the first act, the male and female dancers, energetically giving their all for each performance, and the Greek masks of comedy and tragedy...

KAT FLYN is a self-taught assemblage artist working presently out of San Diego. She began her career as a costume designer in Southern California. Over the years she amassed a trove of artifacts and collectables which she began using to create assemblage art in the 1990’s. In 2000 she sold her business and moved to Cuyamaca, a remote community in the mountains outside of San Diego to devote herself exclusively to her artwork. In 2003 her work was interrupted when the Cedar Fire swept through San Diego county and destroyed the forest, her home & studio along with almost all of her collections and works of art. Following the fire she relocated to San Francisco, where she spent a decade concentrating on her art in her studio in SOMA and exhibiting at galleries in the Bay Area. In 2015 she returned to San Diego and now works out of her studio in La Jolla, exhibiting there and in Los Angeles. Kat Flyn refers to herself as an Assemblage Sculptor and her works as Political Art or Protest Art. She separates herself from other assemblage artists in that she only employs “saved” as opposed to “found” objects in her work; and her pieces always have a political or cultural narrative to them rather than being surreal or abstract. Artist Biography: A graduate of Connecticut College, Krawczyk has studied fine art throughout Europe and apprenticed with various acclaimed sculptors.
