Vedastus Fish Bronze Sculpture Animal Nature In Stock Pieter Vanden Daele was born in Belgium in 1971. He grew up between lakes and the river Scheldt. The river De Scheldt and the variety of lakes are an ideal environment for fishermen. When his friends went fishing, Pieter took painting lessons at the Oudenaarde academy. At a young age Pieter became fascinated by the underwater world and fauna. In 2000 he worked at an art foundation in Oudenaarde, where he learned how to make molds and how to cast and patronize bronze. His passions came together in 2003 and he started casting bronze sculptures of mainly carp. The fish that he makes have a special texture, a skin with scales translated into bronze. VandenDaele has developed its own technology for this. Pieter builds the original model from organic material, such as leaves, wood, leather, wax and many other materials. He uses various organic materials in his molds to create special prints and structures in the skin of the bronze. This gives the sculptures so much character that names such as Ferox, Alphons and Ludwig do not surprise us. The fish are alive, caught for eternity. Just as nature keeps prehistoric fish...

Contemporary Ceramic Trompe l'oeil Sculpture, Glazed Porcelain, "Oyster Vase" Dirk Staschke is best known for his exploration of Dutch Vanitas still life themes in the medium of ceramics. His current body of work explores the space in between sculpture and painting. His work often uses meticulous representation as foil for examining skill and craft. He received his BFA from the University of Montevallo followed by an MFA from Alfred University and has maintained an ongoing studio practice and extensive exhibition record for twenty-three years. During this time, he has taught at many notable universities, including Emily Carr University, Alfred University and New York University. His work has been shown internationally and resides in the permanent collections of several museums including the Smithsonian Museum in Washington (DC), Icheon Museum, World Ceramic Center (Gwango-dong) South Korea, Crocker Museum (CA) and the Portland Art Museum (OR). He has received various artist’s grants including grants from The Virginia Groot Foundation and the Canada Council on the Arts. A self-taught sculptor, Copper is drawn to what she considers the “misunderstood” animal, and much of her work centers on bats and burros. Pushing the barrier between animal and human, she approaches her subjects from all angles, playing on them as animals, and morphing them with human figures. Copper was first inspired to sculpt bats when she was visiting a temple in Chachongsao, Thailand, where she encountered hundreds of thousands of bats hanging above her, wings gently quivering. Copper remembers that she had never thought about bats before, but at that moment she was captivated and started to research them. The more she learned, the deeper her respect for these marvelous creatures, and the more she wanted to find a way to help people understand and appreciate them. In her bat sculptures...
