Alogi John Art

Nigerian, b. 1994
Alogi John is a visual artist known for his pursuit of painting which has begun and continues apace today. His works are focused on his immediate environment, culture, and norms capturing them seemingly in vibrant colors. He portrays inner emotions, history, and his personal experiences. His works generally emphasize mood. Alogi john was born in Lagos state, Nigeria, during his intense experimentations on how to distinct his style and approach of paintings from regular realism, his study so far has made him realize that painting of puzzles are more understanding to solve issues so far there are missing parts which need to be filled. His works appear to gaze vividly back at us, they engage silently back and forth in an unspoken negotiation. Alogi's paintings are distinctive in their patient rendition of the puzzles on the subject involved. His works explore different aspects of the African diaspora and pay homage to his Nigerian identity. His paintings have been featured in some group exhibitions in Nigeria including 'life in my city' LIMCAF state level 2018 and were among the 10 ten finalists of the next of kin 2019 competition in Lagos Nigeria. His paintings are portraits of himself, friends, relatives, and neighbors to tell stories of his experiences and his emotions about his race and country in general, adding puzzles to the subject to tell the stories of how incomplete his life experience and environment as been. He became a full-time studio artist working and mastering the puzzle technique with the use of acrylic and oil mediums. His mode of execution of his artworks with the use of puzzles looking exactly like real puzzles on his subjects often leaves the viewers inspired and enchanted. He often uses acrylic and muted tones of colors and vibrant colors in the background with the trademark of flowers in the background to create beauty around his subject matter when he works with human figures. His subjects emphasize mood, emotions, and experiences.

Ray of Hope
By Alogi John
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
"Ray of Hope" presents a compelling visual narrative that captures the viewer's attention with its elegant simplicity and emotive composition. The central focus is a lady, her eyes fixed on an unseen point, her hands gently supporting her face, and her flowing braided hair cascading down her shoulders. The artist skillfully employs light and shadow to accentuate the contours of her face, creating an ethereal glow that emanates from her serene expression. The painting's colors, a delicate blend of cool and warm tones, add a sense of depth and richness, further enhancing the artwork's emotional impact. The lady's introspective pose and piercing gaze offer a profound glimpse into the human experience. With her hands gently cradling her face, she exudes a sense of vulnerability and introspection, as if lost in her own thoughts and dreams. The flowing braided hair adds an element of timelessness and femininity, while also symbolizing the fluidity and interconnectedness of one's hopes and aspirations. "Ray of Hope" serves as a reminder that within the depths of contemplation, a spark of optimism and resilience can emerge, guiding individuals toward a brighter future. "Ray of Hope" finds its place within John Alogi's wider body of work, the "Dreams and Reality" series. This series explores the intersection between the subconscious and conscious mind, delving into the depths of human emotions, dreams, and aspirations. Each artwork within this collection invites viewers to question the boundaries between reality and imagination, offering glimpses into alternate worlds and unseen narratives. Alogi's unique ability to blend symbolism with evocative imagery gives birth to visual masterpieces that resonate with viewers on both intellectual and emotional levels. Alogi's artistic style is characterized by a delicate balance between realism and poetic abstraction. His meticulous attention to detail, particularly in capturing facial expressions and the intricacies of hair, results in a stunning portrayal of human emotion. The artist's use of light and shadow creates a sense of depth and luminosity that brings his subjects to life. Alogi's choice of colors, often muted and harmonious, adds to the dreamlike quality of his artwork, enveloping viewers in a world of contemplation and introspection. John Alogi's artwork, "Ray of Hope," captivates viewers with its mesmerizing portrayal of a lady lost in thought. As a part of his "Dreams and Reality" series, this masterpiece reflects the artist's profound understanding of the human condition, evoking a sense of introspection and emotional resonance. Through Alogi's skillful technique and symbolic imagery, the artwork transcends the boundaries of the canvas, inspiring contemplation and igniting a ray of hope within those who encounter it. "Ray of Hope" stands as a testament to the enduring power of art to touch the depths of our souls and remind us of the beauty and resilience within us all. Embracing My Imperfections
By Alogi John
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
"The focal point of the artwork is undoubtedly the man's piercing gaze. The intensity in his eyes reflects a profound sense of self-awareness and vulnerability. This vulnerability is further emphasized by the positioning of his hands. By embracing himself, the man sends a powerful message of self-love and acceptance, challenging the conventional ideals of perfection that society often imposes upon individuals. John Alogi's artistic expertise comes to the fore through the use of contrasting elements. The background is a minimalist canvas that allows the man's form and expression to take center stage. The strategic play of light and shadow lends a three-dimensional quality to the artwork, breathing life into the man's figure and evoking a sense of realism that makes it feel like he might step out of the canvas at any moment. The title, "Embracing My Imperfections," provides a glimpse into the deeper narrative that the artwork conveys. It is a profound exploration of the human condition and the struggles faced by individuals on their journey toward self-acceptance. The man's unwavering gaze challenges viewers to confront their own self-perceived flaws and recognize the beauty in embracing the entirety of their being. In a society that often prioritizes an unattainable standard of perfection, "Embracing My Imperfections" serves as a timely reminder of the importance of self-compassion. It encourages viewers to break free from the shackles of self-criticism and embrace their vulnerabilities, recognizing them as an integral part of their uniqueness. John Alogi's masterful stroke work and attention to detail breathe life into the artwork, rendering it more than just a visual representation. It becomes a portal through which viewers can embark on an introspective journey, peeling back layers of self-doubt and societal conditioning to uncover the essence of their true selves. "Embracing My Imperfections" stands as an ode to the strength that lies in vulnerability and the beauty that emerges when individuals embrace their authentic selves. It is a testament to the transformative power of art, capable of igniting conversations about self-acceptance, resilience, and the multifaceted nature of the human experience. John Alogi's artwork, "Embracing My Imperfections," is a profound and evocative artwork that challenges societal norms and celebrates the journey of self-acceptance. With its arresting imagery and poignant message, the painting invites viewers to embrace their own imperfections and embark on a path toward self-love and compassion. As part of his "Fixing the Missing Part" series, and as we immerse ourselves in the mesmerizing gaze of the man on the canvas, we are reminded that our imperfections do not define us; they are an integral part of what makes us beautifully human.
