Born in Huelva in the south of Spain in 1979, Mora studied at the School of Fine Arts in Seville and specialised in painting.
Using traditional methods, Mora layers gesso and oils onto linen, sometimes using paper and textiles to create and deepen the texture. By using bright, almost neon colours, he brings these very traditional methods into 21st Century painting.
His current body of work called ‘Domestic Nature’ seeks to find beauty in the every day objects which we can often take for granted. A bowl of fruit or flowers are transformed into its simplest form, allowing us to create our own narrative.
There is a translucency of light to Mora’s paintings, which at times exudes a calmness and serenity which is at odds to the vibrant colours used. The bowl or vase is a recurring theme in Mora’s work, it’s probably the most basic of all domestic objects, yet it is a symbol of one of the simplest pleasures in life; that of eating and sharing, and one of 'fullness'.
Mora has exhibited internationally and his paintings hang in many public and private collections in Ireland, UK, U.S. and Spain, including La Caixa and The Museum of Contemporary Art Vasquez Diaz.to
