They were manufactured in Sheffield by the renowned silversmith Roberts and Belk who was established in 1892 and well known for making a large variety of top-quality silverware. These fabulous 19th century neoclassical French cassolettes have an athénienne form and are composed of bloodstone ornamented with beautifully detailed ormolu mounts. The green ovoid vessels are flecked with red and are each supported by three gilt bronze legs finished with rams hooves at the bottom and rams heads at the top. A central ring holds the legs firmly in place. The upper portion of the vessels bear wide gilt bronze bands decorated with floral and foliate motifs. The undersides are finished with a series of detailed leaves separated by stems and small berries with pinecone pendants...
