made of porcelain of France, crafted in the factory of Mortelèque in Ixelles (near Brussels),
Belgium and painted by the artist Frédéric Faber (1782-1844).
The model of the crater vase is based on the famed Medici crater in the Uffizi in Florence.
This type of vase was often reserved for lavish gifts among the aristocracy and royal courts
in Europe.
At the Salon of 1815, Faber’s work attracted king William I of the Netherlands
(1772-1843) who eventually named him the court’s official porcelain painter.

Pair of cloisonné enamel square vases attributed to A. Giroux, with flared neck decorated on the belly with flowering lambrequins with oriental patterns on a blue and golden geometric. The mount in patinated and gilded bronze is composed of an openwork frieze on the neck, side grips with Fô dog heads forming the handles, the whole resting on four feet in the shape of elephant heads.
Alphonse Giroux and Company, famous curiosity and luxury goods shop was situated in Paris, at No. 7 rue du Coq-Saint-Honoré and in business from the time of the Consulate until the end of the Second Empire. The company was founded by Francois-Simon-Alphonse and continued in 1838 by his two sons, Alphonse-Gustave (1810-1886) and André (1801-1879). The father became a close associate of the royal family and specialized in the manufacture of refined items for gifts. Kings Louis XVIII and then Charles X were both supplied with gifts for « The Children of France » by Giroux. This exceptional 18 carat yellow gold antique scent bottle has a has a plain flask shaped form.
This antique opalesque glass scent bottle is fitted with a fine and impressive yellow gold cylindrical collar and domed hinged cover, which opens to reveal the original push fit glass stopper.
The rim of the collar, cover and mounted foot are embellished with impressive leaf designs.
The surface of the cover is ornamented with impressive scrolling leaf decoration on a matte background, incorporating quatrefoil shaped floral motifs comprised of four collet set green-coloured hardstones.
Each quatrefoil shaped design is embellished with a collet set cabochon cut ruby to the centre, totalling 0.08ct.
The domed upper portion of the cover is further ornamented with an impressive scrolling leaf bordered floral design, comprised of five collet set green hardstone petals with an impressive 0.43ct round faceted cut garnet to the centre, collet set in relief.
